We conducted a study with 30 lab participants and 450 unmoderated participants and found completion rates and perceived ease differed by only 3%. https://t.co/Hj3SOBj6Iq

5000+ hours down the drain because of a #badUX account recovery process, @pathofexile ? My cousin has been locked out since December despite providing info (account/character names, IP, Steam purchases). This is unacceptable. #PathOfExile#accountrecovery
The controversial claim based on the #research of Nielsen and Landauer that “five is enough” for participants in a #usability study turns out to sometimes be true, but in a very limited range of research contexts. https://t.co/g0cCwfiHHk
1/2 Your stakeholders aren't monsters.👹They're not dinosaurs.🦖 They are people, with experiences and emotions and thinking that formed into their opinions and preferences.
2024, and some websites still block the zoom on mobile. What could possibly go wrong?
A lot of things, including: your cookie banner has an issue on mobile, and your user is now stuck, on mobile, on a blurry finger trap, with no option to get out.
INFORMATION ARCHITECTURE FIRST PRINCIPLES • No. 1
People only understand things relative to things they already understand.
This principle comes from Richard Saul Wurman. The idea is simple: we can’t relate to concepts on their own. Instead, we scaffold understanding on sets of relations between ideas.
Consider a concept you learned about recently. It’s likely you grokked it only by comparing and contrasting it with other ideas you already knew.
This is how we learn. Mental models grow by accretion. There are no ‘intuitive’ information structures, only learnable ones.
IA is about designing scaffoldings that allow people to find their way to knowledge.
