Saudi Arabia has confirmed at least 12 people were killed and more than 300 injured after Houthi fighters struck Riyadh International Airport with a ballistic missile on Saturday.
Al Jazeera's Jama Noor Ahmed reports from Riyadh that it marks a dangerous escalation.
While Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, CON was in Abuja today evening, we heard about the emergence of a coronation which is called a "consensus" for all the elective positions in Gombe State.
Legally, there can be no valid consensus without involving the aspirants who have obtained or completed their expression of interest and nomination forms.
We advise all our supporters to remain calm and law-abiding. However, the total disregard for the provisions of the law cannot be ignored by us.
The Nigeria Electoral Act, 2026, outlines the modes of nomination in Section 84 (2):
Political parties are restricted to only two methods for selecting candidates in which coronation is not among them. The two methods are:
1) Consensus: A candidate may emerge if all cleared aspirants provide written consent to step down. If even one aspirant refuses, the party must revert to a direct primary.
2) Direct Primaries: Every registered party member has the right to vote directly for their preferred aspirant.
The action is completely contrary to the provisions of the law, the directive of the National Party, and the instruction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.
We urge our supporters to get ready for direct primaries after addressing major challenges in the APC database in the state. Our legal team is also working on addressing the challenges and observations.
May Allah bless Gombe State and may Allah bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Thank you all.
Signed:
Professor Suleiman Mohammed
From Gombe State.

ADC: N712B Airport Renovation Wasteful, Misplaced Priority.
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has condemned the Tinubu administration’s plan to spend over ₦712 billion on the renovation of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos. In a statement issued by Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, the party questioned whether the renovation plan and its associated cost had received approval from the National Assembly, describing the expenditure as reckless and insensitive.
The full statement read:
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) strongly condemns the outrageous ₦712 billion airport renovation project announced by the Tinubu administration as another brazen act of fiscal recklessness and official insensitivity which further confirms how far this APC government is removed from the reality of the suffering people of Nigeria.
It is hard to understand how expending ₦712 billion into renovating an airport that already received significant upgrades in recent years makes fiscal sense in a country where public universities wallow in chronic austerity, where basic medical care, has become a luxury that only the rich can afford, where millions of Nigerians have been thrown into poverty as a result of government’s ill-conceived policies.
The Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos remains functional and serviceable. What the aviation sector needs is not another gold-plated terminal, but proper maintenance, enhanced efficiency and the expansion of regional airports to boost real connectivity across Nigeria.
I’ve been meaning to ask Nigerians, not just the youths, but everyone. Do we have something against working with leaders who are intelligent, coherent, and truly present?
Leaders who understand their people, culture, and needs and are mentally alert enough to govern with clarity and purpose?
Because, frankly, we seem more comfortable with leaders we have to cover for 'leaders' whose inadequacies we constantly excuse, defend, or spin into myths.
Why do we normalize incompetence and fear brilliance?
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to introduce the new face of the ADC coalition, Barr Chinedu Idigbo, who has resumed office today as National Organizing Secretary of ADC.
Chinedu is a man of gravitas and the epitome of excellence and integrity, like his boss Peter Obi.

Tinubu took fuel to N1020 per litre.
Cooking gas skyrocketed to N1200 per litre.
Meanwhile, electricity subsidy has been removed.
School fees have been tripled.
Fuel subsidy has been removed.
Yet, Tinubu has increased the national debt from N12 trillion to N200 trillion within 2 years.
Please, when will the poor breath?
