Excited to share our new study exploring how Arabidopsis thaliana adapts to temperature shifts! Northern vs. southern Swedish accessions show distinct flowering responses linked to epigenetic differences in FLC. #EvoDevo#Epigenetics#PlantBiology

Congrats to our team and collaborators @JIANQUANLIU. Nature Communications featured our recent paper developing Arabidopsis thaliana graph pangenome and revealing the role of extensive SV in local adaptation. https://t.co/sWql5KSUub
it involves a surprisingly large number of loci whose effects are a dynamic property of the environment. This releases a massive amount of cryptic genetic variation and exposes a new genetic architecture for selection to act on.
We now have a complete chromosome-level genome assembly for this allotetraploid and a Genbank scale characterisation on the genetic and phenotypic diversity, as well as a G-P map for 39 morphological, metabolic and disease-resistance traits
Making a heatmap is an essential skill for a bioinformatician.

It's been 10 years since I got my PhD. So I few scattered reflections on things I've come to realise over the years, which I hope might be useful to others starting out...

Through a highly competitive process you might be lucky enough to be accepted into a #PhD program where you earn something similar to the minimum wage.
Massive news: eLife to abolish accept/reject decisions: papers will just be “peer reviewed”. Others can argue about this, but lots of interesting consequences. 1/9 https://t.co/FedRxI62iC
Want to know more about genetics of phenotype plasticity , here is our latest work on bio-rxiv (https://t.co/yfySJ4DwhF) revealing genetic regulation of complex trait mean and plasticity, and its role in forecasting complex trait under future climate .
