None of us want to listen to somebody else’s music on the tube, a train, a bus, wherever it is. We certainly don’t want to listen to some nonsense phone call on loudspeaker.

A small issue, but it’s one that perfectly represents the continued erosion of our high-trust society.

We have shared social standards that make public life tolerable and civilised. I’m largely of the view that people can do whatever the hell they like, as long as it doesn’t affect others. This affects others.

Restore Britain believes that public transport should be a space governed by basic courtesy and mutual respect.

We will introduce a clear national rule: audio played on personal devices on public transport must be listened to through headphones.

We will give stronger powers to transport staff for them to intervene, fine repeat offenders and if necessary remove them from the vehicle. Conductors and guards will be given proper protection in the law to help prevent any anti-social or aggressive behaviour against them.

I suspect our programme of mass deportations will help to solve this problem...

Because I want our high-trust society back. And we can get it back.

This is about restoring basic standards of public behaviour.

A small minority has been allowed to degrade shared public spaces without consequence, while the quiet majority simply sit and endure it.

Most British people are too polite to say anything about it.

There is now a political party that will stand up for the quiet, decent majority.

Restore Britain.

Today, SpaceX shared a new picture (on left) of its next-generation Raptor 3 rocket engine, the most advanced rocket engine ever made.

• Almost 2x the thrust of Raptor 1
• Costs 4x less
• Much lighter. Will save 2,425 lbs of weight per engine, or 94,575 lbs (42.9 metric tons) per launch
• No heat shield
• Optimized for manufacturability

It will first fly aboard Starship Version 3, with the first launch currently targeted for Q1 2026.

10 years ago today, on December 21, 2015, @SpaceX achieved a groundbreaking milestone in spaceflight history. The company successfully performed the first-ever orbital rocket landing of its Falcon 9 first stage.

This marked the first time a rocket stage was successfully returned to Earth and landed vertically after launching a payload into orbit.

Now, in 2025, SpaceX is catching rockets in mid-air with giant tower arms.

Сегодня, когда зелёное утро разливается над Гудзоном, а мусоровоз уже гремит контейнерами под окном так, что и мёртвый недовольно посмотрит на часы, я хочу поговорить с вами об одноразовых вещах.

А вы знали, что в 2008 году люди, в среднем, удерживали на тексте внимание 12 секунд? А в 2025 - уже всего 8. Это смешно, потому что золотая рыбка удерживает внимание на предмете 10 секунд. Чуть дольше, чем мы с вами.

Я смотрю на мельницу для перца. Я удерживаю внимание. Она стоит на столе (между чайником и бутылкой молока) - сделанная из крепкого пластика, с маленькими твёрдыми жерновами внутри, в которых до миллиметра рассчитано расстояние между зубцами - ровно настолько, чтобы горошинка перца проскользнула между ними, а после раздробилась в щекотную черную крошку. Эта мельница одноразовая. Её невозможно пополнить - только выбросить, когда содержимое закончится (даже есть внешнее не изменится).

Я думаю о том, как три последних года, мне повторяли: заведи ТикТок. Снимай ролики - чем короче, тем лучше. В них не будет смысла? Не важно. Тебе это не нравится? Не важно. Заполни алгоритмы своим присутствием! Три ролика в день! Купи рекламу! Будь везде!

А мне, и правда, от одной мысли было сложно. Мне не нравилось. Но только теперь, глядя на мельницу для перца, я поняла - почему.

Сегодня мы живём в мире одноразового. Вещей, видео, музыки, книг, онлайн-дружб, встреч, влюбленностей. Когда я слышу "Мы любили друг друга, наши отношения продлились две недели" - я хлопаю глазами и чувствую себя старой. По моему скромному мнению, две недели отношения могут длиться с пучком редиски - но не с человеком. Для человеков должно быть какое-то другое слово.

Но вот что стало понятно. Я не хочу принимать участие в создании одноразовых вещей, музык и влюбленностей. Потому что я чувствую, что трачу единственную жизнь на пустые и бессмысленные вещи, которые выйдут из моды послезавтра. На борьбу за внимание людей. На попытку "продать" им то, что им не нужно. Да, кто-то точно скажет, что аудитория моя так не расширится, что я не стану звездой вертикальных площадок, и что в будущем нет для меня места.

И это абсолютнейшая ложь. Если в настоящем все ещё есть место для корсетов и виниловых пластинок - значит и для песен длиной в 3 минуты найдется место в будущем. И для меня найдется. И для всех, кто, как и я, верит, что дружба - это многолетняя практика, любовь - это навсегда, что в релизе - должно быть больше одной песни. Я хочу делать что-то осмысленное, наполненное, надолго - или даже навсегда.

И вообще. Если я - дописала, а вы - дочитали до этого места, это значит только одно. Хотя бы иногда - но вы думаете так же. И мы все ещё способнее золотых рыбок.
