Three women in their seventies have been in a Lahore jail since 21 September 2026. No charge. No trial.

One of them is my mother, @DrUzma_KhanPK. The others are her sisters, @Aleema_KhanPK and @Noreen_KhanPK. Their brother, former Prime Minister @ImranKhanPTI, has been in prison since August 2023.

The facts:

– The sisters are held in Kot Lakhpat Jail under Section 3 of the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960, which allows officials to detain a person to prevent a threat to public order, without charge or trial. Their orders run 30 days at a time and can be renewed.
– The Punjab home secretary's report to the Lahore High Court says they were detained ahead of PTI's planned protests.
– Their detention was extended on 7 October. The family learned of it in court on 26 October.
– On 28 October, @Noreen_KhanPK was moved to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. The family was not told.
– For three years, they visited their brother at Adiala jail every Tuesday and carried his words to the public. Now they are held themselves.
– In 2024, the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention found Imran Khan's detention arbitrary and called for his immediate release. He remains in prison.

Let’s do exactly that to jog his memory :)

• The Constitution required elections in Punjab and KP within 90 days (by 14th April)

• When the Supreme Court took suo motu notice on 23rd February, the Lahore and Peshawar High Courts had already wasted 40 of the 90 days

Why did he and his group of “panchayati judges” insist on waiting even longer?

Detailed Timeline:

• 14th January: Punjab assembly dissolved
• 18th January: KP assembly dissolved
• Elections were to be held before 14th April

• The governors refused to announce the dates

• 10 February: The Lahore High Court decided the case, but the ECP rejected it
• The contempt petition was also delayed
• 20 February: The President announced 9 April as the election date; the caretakers and the ECP refused to accept it

• 23 February: The Supreme Court took notice
• the judges fought over whether it should be heard by a full court or a 9-member bench. A new 5-judge bench was formed

• 1 March: Two of the five judges called the petitions non-maintainable (only about 44 days were left). The other three directed that new dates be announced

• 22–23 March: The ECP and the KP Governor postponed the elections to 8 October

• 4 April: The Supreme Court declared the ECP’s move unconstitutional and ordered elections on 14 May. The ECP ignored the order and filed a review.

• 9 May: Imran Khan was abducted from the Islamabad High Court and released on 12 May

• 14th May: Violence was used against peaceful protesters supporting the Supreme Court; thousands were jailed.

• 15th May: The PDM held a rally outside the court and issued threats. The contempt of court case was adjourned indefinitely by Chief Justice Bandial and decided only on 31 August

Result: The Constitution, the law, the elections and the courts became a joke

Judges fighting among themselves instead of enforcing the Constitution enabled this breakdown of democracy and the constitutional order.

Sadly, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and his “Panchaiti Friends” were very much a part of it and ultimately became a casualty themselves!!

Yesterday my father @AhadMKhan spoke to the media in Lahore and briefed members of the Punjab Assembly. What he told them:

– All three sisters are being held in solitary confinement.
– @Noreen_KhanPK, who is in her seventies, had no heart problems before jail. This week she spent two days at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology. No one told the family.
– For three years they carried their brother's words out of Adiala to the people. He believes that is why they are inside.

His question: "If these women did not break, how will Khan break?"

Charge them or release them.

محسن رضا فیصل آباد سے تحریکِ انصاف کے ایم پی اے خیال کاسترو کے ڈرائیور تھے جنہیں 9 مئی کے جھوٹے کیس میں 60 دن تک جیل میں رکھا گیا، جب وہ جیل سے باہر آئے تو مفلوج ہو چکے تھے، اس دن سے آج تک وہ چلنے پھرنے سے قاصر رہے، اس کے بعد 9 مئی کے جھوٹے مقدمے میں ایک ناکردہ گناہ کی 10 سال کی ناحق سزا سنا دی گئی، جس کے باعث وہ اپنے گھر سے بے گھر ہو کر بیماری اور کسمپرسی میں اشتہاری کی زندگی گزارنے پر مجبور ہوئے اور بالآخر اپنے خالقِ حقیقی سے جا ملے۔

نورین نیازی کی ہسپتال منتقلی: خاندان پر کیا گزری؟نائب وزیرِ داخلہ طلال چوہدری کی غلط بیانیاں۔

نورین نیازی کی جیل سے ہسپتال منتقلی، دو راتوں کا قیام اور آج جیل واپسی بارے مختلف خبریں گردش کر رہی ہیں۔ اس دوران اُس کی بیٹیوں پر کیا گزری؟ چونکہ مملکت اذیت پسندوں (SADISTS) کے قبضے میں، بزرگ خواتین بچوں کی تکالیف میں بھی آسودگی ملنی ہے۔
جھوٹوں کا انبار لگا دیا گیا چنانچہ وضاحت ضروری ہے۔ اپ ڈیٹڈ سافٹ ویئر کے ساتھ طلال چوہدری کا دعویٰ کہ نورین نیازی کے اہلِ خانہ کو فوراً اطلاع دی گئی اور ہسپتال بلوا لیا، سفید جھوٹ ہے۔بیٹا جیل میں اور جیل سے باہر دو بیٹیوں کو میڈیا سے معلوم ہوا۔ میری بیٹیاں والدہ کو ملنے اورڈاکٹروں سے رابطے کی ناکام کوشش کرتی رہیں کہ والدہ کی حالتِ زار معلوم ہو سکے۔
28 اکتوبر شام چھ سات بجے ہسپتال منتقلی کی خبر کی تصدیق ہوئی تو دونوں بیٹیاں فورا" ہسپتال پہنچ گئیں، آج 30 اکتوبر شام چھ بجے دو دنوں سے ہسپتال کی راہداریوں میں بھٹکتی رہیں۔ درجنوں دفعہ دونوں بہنوں کی پولیس نےسرزنش کی کہ ہسپتال کی حدود سے باہر نکل جائیں۔ بیٹیوں کی ایک ہی درخواست تھی کہ انہیں والدہ کو دیکھنے دیا جائے یا علاج کرنے والے ڈاکٹر سے بات کروا دی جائے مگر ان کی آہ و بکا بےکار رہی۔
صد افسوس! طلال چوہدری درجنوں ٹھوکریں کھانے اور سافٹ ویئر اپ ڈیٹ ہونے کے بعد جب سے نیا پیشہ اختیار کیا ہے، وہاں جھوٹ اختیاری نہیں بلکہ لازمی مضمون ہے۔ طلال کی تصحیح کے لیے کہ فیملی جو اس وقت فقط دو بیٹیوں پر مشتمل ہے، نورین نیازی کی ہسپتال آمد اور علاج بارے لاعلم رکھا گیا۔ دونوں بہنیں ساری رات اندھیرے میں تیر چلاتی رہیں کہ کوئی ڈاکٹر ملے اور ماں کی صحت بارے کچھ معلوم کر سکیں۔ چونکہ خاصا میڈیا اکٹھا تھا، زبردستی نکالنے کی جرأت نہ تھی۔
24 گھنٹوں کے بعد اگلے دن 29 کی شام کو جب بیٹیوں نے مجبور کیا تو میں نے ایک بھلے مانس اللہ کے بندے کی منت سماجت کی تو اس کی مہربانی بڑی بیٹی کی ملاقات کی صورت پیدا ہوئی۔ آدھی رات سے کچھ پہلے بڑی بیٹی کو ماں تک رسائی ملی، وہاں ماں کی ڈھلکی صحت دیکھ کر بڑی بیٹی ابھی تک صدمے میں ہے۔ والدہ کی خواہش کہ چھوٹی بیٹی کو بھی ملوا دیا جائے جو چند گزوں کے فاصلے پر موجود تھی اور ماں کو ملنے کے لیے تڑپ رہی تھی۔ جب بڑی بہن ماں کے پاس تھی تو چھوٹی بیٹی بار بار مجھے فون کرکے بلک رہی تھی کہ ’’ابا مجھے بھی اماں سے ملوا دیں‘‘، مگر بے بسی تھی۔ اگلے دن کوشش کی کہ دوسری بیٹی، یا دونوں بیٹیاں، والدہ سے مل لیں، مگر اجازت نہ ملی۔ جب نورین نیازی کو ہسپتال سے جیل منتقل کیا جا رہا تھا توچھوٹی بیٹی نے ماں کو دور سے دیکھا تو اس کی حالت صدمے سے غیر ہو گئی، دونوں بیٹیوں پر دو دن جو بیتی ہے اور جس صدمہ میں ہیں ،جزوی حال درج کر دیاہے۔
طلال چوہدری فرما رہے ہیں کہ خاندان کو فوراً بلا لیا گیا تھا سراسر جھوٹ ہے۔ سوچتا ہوں ماضی میں طلال چوہدری کی جودرگت بنی اور سافٹ ویئر اپ ڈیٹ ہوا، میرے پر بیتی ہوتی تو میں بھی آٹو پائلٹ پر بلال چوہدری کی طرح جھوٹ پرچار کرتا ، فرماں بردار ہوتا۔
بڑی بیٹی کی اس ایک ملاقات کے لیے مجھے کتنی منت سماجت کرنا پڑی، میں جانتا ہوں۔ طلال چوہدری! براہ مہربانی اسے حکومتی کارکردگی نہ بتائیں۔
ظلم خدا کا، MPOکے تحت نظربند خاتون کو مکمل صحت یاب ہونے سے پہلے ہی آناً فاناً دوبارہ جیل جمع کروا دینا،سفاکیت اور اذیت پسندی کی بدترین مثال ہے۔
نورین ایک گھریلو اور introvert خاتون ہیں، جنہوں نے ہمیشہ نجی زندگی گزاری ہے۔ ساڑھے تین سال سے اپنے اکلوتے بھائی اوراپنے اکلوتے بیٹے کی دس سالہ غیر قانونی قید نے اس پر قیامت ڈھا رکھی ہے ،جذبات نے مغلوب کر رکھا ہے۔
ازراہِ تفنن اور ازراہِ تعفن ’’حکومتی مؤقف کہ ایم پی او کے تحت اس لیے حراست میں لیا گیا کہ وہ ۲۷ ستمبر کو اسلام آباد آنے والے جلوس کی قیادت کر سکتی تھیں‘‘۔ بفرضِ محال یہ مؤقف مان لیا جائے تو 27 ستمبر گزرنے کے بعد اور جبکہ گورنر راج نافذ، خواتین کو جیل میں نظربند رکھنا بے شرمی، بے حیائی کے علاوہ کچھ نہیں؟ خواتین کو آخر کب تک، کس بنیاد پر قید رکھا جائے گا؟ نورین کابیٹا حسّان نیازی اسی جیل میں قید ، والدہ کو ہسپتال لے جاتے وقت اسے چند منٹ کے لیے ملوا دینے میں کیا حرج تھا؟
میری آسودگی؛ انہی حرکتوں سے 25 کروڑ عوام کے دلوں میں حکمرانوں خلاف نفرت، غصہ اور دوری مزید بڑھنی ہے۔
طلال صاحب! بیمار خاتون کی تکلیف اور اسکےساتھ پیش آنے والے سلوک پر غلط بیانی نہ کیجیے۔
مجھ پر لازم ہو گیا کہ اصل واقعات سامنے لاؤں تاکہ اذیت پسند حکمرانوں کی سفاکیت عیاں ہو۔ وقت ایک سا نہیں رہتا، ماضی کے کئی ظالم حکمران قبروں میں یا زندہ ہیں مگر اقتدار سے باہر عبرت کا نشان، ان کے انجام دیکھ کر تکلیف ہوتی ہے، کاش آج کے حکمران سبق سیکھتے۔

Hajra Niazi, daughter of Noreen Niazi, was made to wait at the hospital until 3 am last night, yet she was not allowed to see her mother. Today, she is still being denied access, with no medical reports, no update on her mother’s health and no information shared with the family. The entire area has been cordoned off by the police as if a high-profile terrorist were being treated at the hospital. What could be more painful for a daughter than being kept away from her own mother, not knowing how she is doing? If the worst does happen, they may try to claim it was from natural causes or old age. My father, when he went to prison 3 years ago, was about the fittest and healthiest 70 year old man you could possibly find. He had no underlying health issues (despite being shot in the leg when the regime tried and failed to have him killed in an assassination attempt).

His health is deteriorating because of the inhumane treatment he has been subjected to in prison, which the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture has repeatedly stated amounts to torture.

Again, make no mistake - the regime will be responsible if he is killed in prison.

Imran Khan has been incarcerated for 39 months and held in solitary confinement for 11 months. His only meeting in those 11 months was in August, when he explicitly stated that he was being tortured and that the regime was trying to kill him as Egypt’s government did Mohamed Morsi.
The UN Special Rapporteur on torture has repeatedly raised concerns about his treatment, describing it as torture.
His three elderly sisters are behind bars since 21 september without any case or legal reason.
Naureen Khanum, is now in ICU with a heart condition developed in jail and no one from family or lawyer is allowed to see her.
Pakistan’s courts are under the control of a fascist regime. Every institution has surrendered.
Pakistan is under a brutal assault on democracy and human rights. The world cannot keep looking away.
