🍄MSU 5th Job Core Skill Guide

Last time, I covered the overall 5th Job system

Today, I want to dive a bit deeper into one of its core features

the V Matrix Core Skill Enhancement system

Once we complete our 5th Job advancement, we’ll be able to access the V Matrix through the Skill UI

We start with a few basic slots, and more slots unlock as we level up
(In KMS, we can even pay mesos to unlock two additional slots beyond the normal limit, though I’m not sure yet if MSU will have the same option)

There are three types of
💠V Cores: Enhancement Cores, Skill Cores, and Special Cores

Depending on which cores we equip, our skills can be strengthened or new abilities can be activated

Since the slots are very limited, we need to equip and upgrade our Enhancement Cores efficiently

So, I’ll use my own character, the Shadower, as an example to explain how this works

For Shadower, we need to enhance the six skills shown above

Each skill can be strengthened either by upgrading its core or by enhancing its slot up to 5 times
(we can add 1 slot enhancement for every level after 200)

Our goal is to reach Skill Enhancement Level 60
(Skill Core Lv. 15 + Slot Enhancement Lv. 5 = 20, applied three times through Boost Nodes)

Each Enhancement Core contains three random skills, and
we can’t equip two cores if the first-line skill is the same

For example, as shown in the image above, if one core has Dark Flare in the first line,
we can't equip another core that also has Dark Flare in the first line

So now, let me show an example of how to set up six non-overlapping cores to efficiently maximize Shadower’s skill nodes

The table above is just an example
you don’t necessarily have to follow it exactly

Anyway, your goal is to fully enhance all six skills
☑️The number of required slots may vary depending on the class

To upgrade them, you can use other enhancement cores as materials, or use Experience Core Gemstones and use the resulting cores as upgrade materials

There are also Skill Cores separate from Enhancement Cores, but I’ll cover those next time

MSU Vanishing Journey: Erda Spectrum Guide (Video included) 🍄

With the upcoming 5th job release, we also get new Arcane River special content. I thought I'd make a guide to help everyone easily complete them!

There are 6 different pieces of special content in Arcane River:

- Vanishing Journey: Erda Spectrum
- Chu Chu Island: Hungry Muto
- Lachelein: Midnight Chaser
- Arcana: Spirit Savior
- Morass: Ranheim Defense
- Esfera: Esfera Guardian

They are unlocked after finishing each region's story quests and it's extremely important to complete them every week.

They reward Arcane Symbols which can be combined to boost stats and increase your Arcane Power! Very important!

Although it's not confirmed if @MaplestoryU will implement them or not, it's very likely as this content is standard across all other versions of MapleStory.

This guide will focus on Erda Spectrum which is the first special content you unlock in Arcane River.

I've also created a short video guide of the content below with additional references and tips.

To start, talk to NPC Nina in Nameless Town and enter Erda Spectrum.

You can enter the Erda Spectrum up to 3 times a week with a party of up to 3 characters.

When you start, you'll need to defeat the mobs that spawn to collect Erda.

Each mob gives you 1 Erda. I recommend collecting at least 80 before the next part.

After collecting enough Erda, press the [NPC Interact] key on the collector to activate it.

Monsters will stop spawning and two portals(red/blue) will randomly appear on each side of the map.

The collector will flash in three colors: red, blue or purple. Damage the collector to summon a corresponding color ball(Erda Cluster).

Hit the summoned balls with the [NPC Interact] key to push them towards a portal of the same color.

Each time you hit the balls, your collected Erda gets reduced by 1!

Red and blue balls give you 1 transfer point while purple balls give 2 points.
You can push purple balls to either red or blue portals.

If you run out of Erda in this phase, press the [NPC Interact] key on the collector to spawn additional mobs.

Once you reach 10 transfer points, the next phase begins.

You'll be teleported to this map where Arma Jr. randomly spawns on both the left and right sides of the map.

The goal here is to push Arma Jr. back into the cave by pressing and holding the [NPC Interact] key on the collector to fire a laser beam at him.

Wait a few seconds before attacking him.
Arma Jr. has an invincibility shield on spawn that you can see on top of his head.

It costs 1 Erda per second to use the collector. You can replenish Erda by defeating the minions that spawn.

If Arma Jr. is able to reach the Erda Collectors in the middle, you will immediately fail so push him back ASAP!

He'll keep spawning back out until you defeat him 5 times. Do it within 2 minutes and 30 seconds and you win.

That's it! Easy right? Upon clearing, you'll receive EXP and Vanishing Journey Arcane Symbols!!!

📘 Part 2: A Deeper Look Into the V Matrix

Let’s take Shadower as an example.

1. About Decent Skills
Getting Decent Skills through gear won’t be necessary anymore.
Decent Sharp Eyes on gloves is getting removed (it’ll be replaced with 8% Crit Damage potential instead).

Now, instead of only Decent Sharp Eyes, you can even get Decent Speed Infusion — though you can skip it if MSU’s current version still can’t hit AS10.

This also completely changes leveling, since we’ll be able to get Decent Holy Symbol from the V Matrix (20% EXP at Level 1 and 35% EXP at Level 30) based on Web2 MapleStory values.

2. About Perfect Trios

These are the two Perfect Trio Boost Nodes for Shadower:

A Perfect Trio is basically a Boost Node that contains three core skills you want to level up.

For Shadower, these key skills include:
Assassinate, Shadow Veil, Cruel Stab, Dark Flare, Sudden Raid, Gold Explosion.

These are the skills that maximize your mobbing and bossing damage output.

3. So how do you get a Perfect Trio?

Crafting Boost Nodes will require a huge number of Node Stones.
Assuming nothing changes in MapleStory N, Node Stones will come from:

▪️ Check-in events (based on Web2 MapleStory)
▪️V Coins
▪️Drops from Arcane Force-required maps (5th Job fields)

Now imagine if Node Stones become tradable in the FT Items market — that alone could completely reshape MSU’s economy.

🍄Preparing the MSU V Matrix

In the upcoming MSU Winter Update,

everyone’s expecting the release of the 5th Job and the Arcane River, right?

Let me tell you what we should start preparing for

When we unlock the 5th Job through its advancement quest

we’ll be able to move to Arcane River through the Gate of Dimensions

Arcane River works similarly to existing Star Force fields,
but without a special stat called Arcane Force
hunting monsters there becomes extremely difficult

💪To gain Arcane Force
we’ll need to equip Arcane Symbols,
and we’ll receive our first one once we unlock the 5th Job

To upgrade these symbols,
may need to complete daily quests,
and can also obtain additional ones by defeating monsters

And once we collect a certain amount of Arcane Symbols
we can pay Neso to upgrade them
Upgrading increases our Arcane Force
and also gives us additional stats

💎Core Gem stones & V Matrix

Starting from the Arcane River,
we will be able to obtain an item called Core Gemstone

When we use this item, we can obtain various types of nodes such as
Skill Nodes, Boost Nodes, and Special Nodes

🔹Skill Nodes allow us to use powerful 5th Job skills once equipped

🔹Boost Nodes enhance our existing skills

🔹Special Nodes provide various unique effects

However, since the number of node slots is limited,
we need to use them wisely

For Boost Nodes, we should make sure that only the essential skills are enhanced
*This part will be explained in more detail later

Since obtaining Arcane Symbols and Core Gemstones is quite difficult,

I believe that the ongoing V Coin event might allow us to exchange V Coins for Arcane Symbols or Core Gemstones

So, if we want to explore the Arcane River faster than anyone else,
we absolutely shouldn’t miss this event

yesterday's liquidation event is the most brutal i've witnessed in my time in crypto

i got wiped out on ALL my perps positions

literally everything

eight figures: $30 million+ at peak uPnL if realized, or well above $15 million just before the liquidation started

100% of the following perps position got wiped:

- $BONK
- $FARTCOIN
- $POPCAT
- $PNUT
- $CAT
- $APEX
- etc

i lost maybe 80% of my $ASTER position that i used as a collateral on a DeFi lending protocol

i took out the remaining (~$1 million), fully liquidated it and rotated it into $BONK and $4 because i think i get better R/R from both from here on out:

- BONK because i refuse to be a 'bonk guy' without BONK exposure, and i remain convinced in my deca-billion-dollar target for it. i will continue to add more over time, God willing
- $4 because i remain strongly convinced that BNB season continues until the end of this quarter and i think $4 is the most asymmetrical bet to capitalize on that

thankfully the overwhelming majority of my $USELESS coin position is held in spot, so i didn't record significant loss on that — maybe with the exception of mid six figures worth of uPnL i had in perps accounts

i am still resolutely convinced that $USELESS is THE memecoin to watch for outperformance from here on out, that it is a multi-billion-dollar narrative currently trading for pennies on the dollar, and that it will end the cycle being a top 5 memecoin at the barest minimum i.e. certainly has a lot more than 10x upside from here. so i’m glad contagion there was contained for me!

what happened yesterday?

everyone blames the recent Trump-China tariffs, but this isn't the first time we've had that this year

and the Trump tariff comments certainly shouldn't have been responsible for such a massive nukage across almost the entirety of altcoins and memecoins in the space

a lot of altcoins crashed 70 to 99% in minutes, when $BTC and $ETH barely crashed 13%

$ATOM, for example, crashed from $4 to $0.001 on top exchanges like Binance — a 99.9% crash in minutes. no one could have humanly responded to that!

it is also worth noting that this massive altcoin/memecoin crash was EXCLUSIVELY on CEXs. these altcoins did not come close to hitting these levels on spot DEXs, so yesterday's liquidation was almost certainly due to MM/CEX liquidity issues

why it was unprecedented (market mechanics)

many people reported being massively affected, especially since exchange systems broke across the board: stop losses failed, orders didn’t fill, margin couldn’t be added, and platforms became unusable within minutes. the entire liquidation cascade happened so fast that almost no one had time to react, something i don’t think we’ve ever seen at this scale before

i was in front of my screen, took a short break, came back to the screen to see the nasty wick about 10 minutes later, then realized i've been liquidated on EVERYTHING i had in perps

it is the craziest crypto event i have witnessed, ever!

it was worse than COVID, which was a black swan event

you could say whatever you want about this event: you can call it manipulation, unnatural, or whatever else

you would be right tbh

however, whether or not manipulation played a role doesn’t change what i have to do next: as a trader, i am only ultimately concerned about things i can actually control

of course it's easier to point out how it all wasn't my fault and how someone else was responsible, but how does that help me grow as a trader? i win if i make money trading, i lose if i lose money trading. end of!

i'm sure we will be hearing more about exactly what happened yesterday night, which will hopefully help give some people closure

i wish i didn't have to write about this:

this will likely be one of the most viral tweets coming out of this event

many have waited for this moment: 'he is so greedy!'

and there will be an army of people mocking me with 'I TOLD YOU SOs'

but write i must, for a few reasons:

1. a key part of the 'bonk guy' persona and identity i have built is one of utmost transparency around my trades, so others can learn

2. while i lost a fortune in the liquidity wipe event, i have a very diversified basket of alts across perps and spot. i'll be fine; my spot assets are safe. but i think there are people who lost literally everything they have right now that might be having very bad and nasty thoughts, and them seeing a voice like mine at this time just might give them hope

i want to be very clear:

1. i do not need your empathy. i appreciate that some would have the thought, but i do not need people messaging me to empathize with me over this

2. i do not need donations or financial support. it was a massive loss, but i'm okay

i also want to emphasize that i'm in a very good mental state right now, as difficult as that might be for many to believe

i've always been very detached from money and material things, and that makes it easy to cope with situations like this

at the end of the day, my $BONK trade was a trade in which i went from $16k to a peak 8-figure PNL

contrary to what seems to be the most common belief here, it isn't my most impressive trade. if i made it before, i can make it once again!

could i have foreseen exchange systems crashing and nuking the most liquid altcoins and memecoins in the market 70 - 90% in mere minutes before anyone could react? no!

could i have maybe done a few things differently leading up to this event? maybe

however, i am a big believer in focusing on what *could* happen and taking action to get there instead of focusing on what *has* happened

the past is the past, and what has happened has happened

there are a lot of changes i’ll be making to my systems as a result of this: less dependence on leverage, sharper risk management, and a stronger focus on protecting my positions from exchange-side risks going forward

all that matters is what happens from here on out...

i remain very optimistic about the market

i do not believe the bull run is over, nor do i think the Q4 rally is out of the picture

so what do i do from here?

lock in more than ever before, be buried deeper in the trenches, and most importantly have fun while i do it!

if there is one thing i have learned after being in this industry for multiple cycles, it is that there is always new opportunities: every day, every week, every month

i have always been one to love a challenge, and i guess this is another one for me and an opportunity to once again prove myself — not to internet strangers, but to myself

this event has not dampened my spirit, not in the slightest. if anything, it has strengthened my resolve to get back in the ring, fight, and win bigger

i will make it all back, and more!

for those who are in a similar situation, who either lost a fortune or lost it all, i have some words for you:

PERSIST

SURVIVE

DON'T GIVE UP

if you need to take a break, please do

if you're struggling to hold it in, please seek help

above all, pay special attention to yourself and focus on your health

i know it will take a while for the gravity of what happened to hit many, but a philosophy that has always helped me to survive massive drawdowns is internalizing all of these crypto gains as just numbers on the screen — until it is realized at least!

i know they can have very real consequences in the real world if/when cashed out, but right now i think internalizing it as just numbers on the screen would make dealing with the loss more bearable

you made it before, so yes YOU can make it again

the most profitable period of the cycle is still well ahead of us

we are all going to make it

and you are going to have me along on this journey with you, if that matters to you!

if there’s one thing this taught me, it’s that no matter how prepared you think you are, you’re never fully protected from systemic shocks — but you can always control your response. i’ll be rebuilding my framework with that truth in mind!
