@SunilSharmaUK@mrmarkdolan For many people I know who migrated to Britain from the former colony of Ceylon, the British way of life was familiar, and felt like home. Assimilation was natural and effortless. Values were shared. Less likely now, as both cultures change and diverge.
My first encounter with @Starlink this week. Marooned amidst the luxury of Kumana Under Canvas in the deep forests of Southeast Sri Lanka, desperate to get out urgent messages, our hosts produced their @Starlink mini, and we were connected in minutes. I am impressed, @elonmusk 😁
@peaklass1@peaklass your efforts to capture and preserve an increasingly fragile heritage are laudable. In the UK as elsewhere beauty that comes from the gentle interactions between our forbears and the land may not last another generation.
@r_evarts@JustDharaka Sounds like Chikungunya. Epidemic levels in SL right now. The joint pains can linger for up to 20 weeks. Better seek medical attention for anti inflammatory meds.
Rant incoming…trying to get a basic level of service from an Organization or Individual in Sri Lanka is like screaming into a void. Calls and emails unanswered, multiple follow ups, appointments not kept. We have achieved the Gold Standard of Bad Service. Or is it just me?
@DhanikaPerera@startlink Interestingly, SLT Web Master out-performs Starlink for a slightly lesser monthly cost, in Colombo City. Starlink will be a better solution in areas not served by fibre. Ask @grok.
Singapore’s Prime Minister holds an emergency press conference after content urging Muslims to vote for Islamist candidates circulates online - “This is unacceptable! We cannot tolerate this kind of identity politics in our society, it will bring us to ruin like it has elsewhere”
