freeCodeCamp is building an open source alternative to Meetup.
- No fees for organizers
- No fees for participants
People have been asking us for a free event tool for years.
Now Meetup's new pricing scheme is forcing our hand.
Let's build it together: https://t.co/1Po1I5l8C2
I understand of the accessibility to the community, but it has came to the attention of some meetup organisers that there are a lot of people who abuse it by booking RSVPs and not turning up. [More to come...]
@picocreator@coderkungfu@cheeaun I think forcing $2 RSVP makes it less accessible to the community. We need an awesome list of SG dev circles / meetups on @github or on @airtable as an alternative to discover groups. And I kind of like how @kopi_js post events as issue tickets hahaha.
@ongchinhwee@kopi_js Another scenario, you wake up and order coffee via a delivery app. Do you wait by the phone for the coffee to arrive or do you go and do other things (while "awaiting" for the coffee to arrive)?
@timkevinoxley@huchenme@swyx@kopi_js It's not just about knowing the company out there, but also getting the company to know you and to tell them that you are THAT developer who the company will want to hire.
Au revoir kilogram prototype! The world has just unanimously voted in a new kilogram based on Planckβs constant. At the #CGPM meeting in Versailles, France, 54 member states also decided to redefine the ampere, kelvin and mole. @BipmMedia #SIredefinition
