Just an hour before this development, I had tweeted that the protest would escalate. Most probably the govt had also received intelligence inputs, which is why they accepted the demand and Dharmendra Pradhan has resigned.

This protest was never about Pradhan’s resignation. It was always aimed at regime change.

The question now is: what happens next?

The Red-Green ecosystem will try to keep the protest going until they achieve regime change in India. But that depends on how much support they can still retain, because many students are likely to leave now that their primary demand has been accepted.

Once Gen Z detaches itself from this protest, the intensity will drop sharply and they will be forced to stop.

However, if they invent new demands and somehow manage to preserve their numbers and momentum, the situation could turn dangerous.
