“When you go to war in your land against an enemy who is oppressing you, you are to sound an alarm with the trumpets; then you will be remembered before Adonai your God, and you will be saved from your enemies.”
— Numbers 10:9
HalleluYAH! 🙏🏻🙌🏻🇮🇱
Just like in Biblical times.
Netanyahu, Bennett and Eisenkot are all security hawks and economic pragmatists.
Together, they could form a strong government without the ultra-Orthodox, extremists, Islamists or anti-Zionists.
Israel is fighting wars on multiple fronts. Put your egos aside. Put the country first.
Why is this so hard?!
BREAKING: Israeli elections have ended and the exit polls are in. All three Israeli channels have Netanyahu's bloc at 50. Eisenkot's bloc is at 52 or 53. The Arab parties are at 17 or 18, the most seats they have ever won.
Likud finished first with 24 or 25. Yashar is second with 21 to 23. Bennett has 12 to 14.
Nobody has 61. Netanyahu cannot form a government without Bennett, and Eisenkot cannot form one without either Bennett or the Arab parties. Israel had the highest turnout in its history today, and the country is still split down the middle.
Correct @BarakRavid & I should have stated it that way! 10 million ppl in @Israel 8m Jews, 2m Arabs. ALL are Israeli citizens-Jew, Muslim, or Christian. All vote, serve in IDF, in Knesset, & proudly have Israeli passports. Women equal to men. All have free speech.
@NiohBerg Eisenkot lost his son in the Gaza war. He knows what it feels like to lose someone you love, and I believe that resonates deeply with so many Israelis. Today, we will vote—not just for a candidate, but for the good and betterment of our country. 🙏🏻
IMPORTANT: This is for everyone to understand how Israeli elections actually work. Too many people especially in the US are offering opinions and “demands” of how they want to see it go and who should or shouldn’t be in.
Now aside from the fact that it’s up to Israelis to decide (and only Israelis) it is more important than ever that people stop using their views on personalities to justify, directly or indirectly, knowingly or unknowingly, whitewashing the atrocities committed by the Arabs against Israel and the effect it’s had on how Israelis view security and more. Many of us simply don’t care about global opinion. That doesn’t mean it’s not important, but it does mean that it is so far down the list of priorities because it has never been a given and because it doesn’t really make any difference what we do or don’t do.
What’s also become clearer than ever is that the difference between Jews in Israel and Jews in the diaspora is like night and day. When the Jews in the diaspora have to live through what Israelis do every day, week and month for the past 78 years, then by all means you can have an opinion. But while living in the lap of safety thousands of miles away and never knowing what it’s like to be surrounded by millions of people wanting your extermination and actually doing it through rockets and suicide attacks and more, the opinions simply mean nothing. Israel doesn’t actually have to do anything for Jews to be hated. You’d think the Holocaust made that clear.
So here goes… the Israeli elections explained:
Americans keep treating Israeli elections like a US presidential race. They aren’t.
In Israel you vote for a party list, not for a prime minister. There are 120 seats in the Knesset. No party has ever won 61 seats by itself. That means there is never a clear “winner” on election night.
Someone still has to assemble a coalition of parties that can get to 61 and pass a confidence vote.
After the results are official, the President talks to the party leaders and picks one person (usually the leader of the biggest party or the one with the best shot at a majority) and gives them the job of trying to form a government. They get 28 days, which can be extended by another 14. If they fail, the President can hand the job to someone else. If that also fails, the country goes back to the polls.
Until a new government is actually sworn in, the old one stays in place as a caretaker. So Netanyahu remains prime minister while all of this happens. It can easily take a month or more.
This is why Israel has had repeated elections in recent years. Parties that promised never to sit with each other sometimes have to choose between breaking that promise or forcing everyone back to the ballot box. The person who ends up prime minister is not necessarily the one whose party got the most seats. It’s the one who can put together a coalition that holds.
That’s the system. Election night doesn’t decide the next prime minister. The coalition negotiations do.
On October 7, @EmmanuelMacron called Israel's 🇮🇱 Prime Minister @netanyahu and urged that Israel show restraint. Netanyahu responded: “if we don't dismantle Hamas in Gaza, you"ll meet them in Paris.”
"We will NEVER forget October 7th. We will NEVER forget the victims. And we will always stand against the forces of Terror and Evil." - President DONALD J. TRUMP 🇺🇸
⚠️WARNING: GRAPHIC AND UPSETTING FOOTAGE ⚠️
Agam Goldstein-Almog was 17. She says it at the start of the film, because the age is the point.
On the morning of October 7 her family was in the safe room at Kibbutz Kfar Aza. Her father, Nadav, and her sister, Yam, were murdered there. She was taken with her mother, Chen, and her brothers, Gal, 11, and Tal, 9, and driven into Gaza in her mother’s car.
She describes the trip. Civilians in Gaza banging on the windows. She told her mother they were going to rape her. The men in the car talked about marrying her off. She asked only that the four of them be kept together. They were. A schoolteacher who was also Hamas held them, after a tunnel, in an apartment, dressed as civilians so the street would not see Israelis. Fifty-one days.
Released on November 26, 2023, moved from car to car through a crowd she thought was going to lynch them, and home to a house with two of them missing.
That is the footage the argument always omits. This isn’t a leaflet. And it isn’t a border dispute. She was a 17-year-old taken from the room where her father and sister had just been killed, with two little boys, into a home in Gaza, by people the marches across London, Paris and New York still call resistance.
She’s the one narrating it. The film doesn’t need a caption.
📰🚨 Israel Hayom:
The head of IDF Military Intelligence told the Security Cabinet last night:
“Of the 6,000 people who crossed the border and invaded Israel on October 7, 4,000 have been eliminated. Two thousand remain — we will get every last one of them.”
