Fun question: what John Piper book most shaped you?

For me, "Desiring God" was big. But "Future Grace" left the deepest mark on me. I think about its message weekly, sometimes daily. God has promised to show grace to his people, so I can trust that he will. He is so very good.

@MikeWingerii People have not been truly taught how to interpret the Bible. Everyone would do well to read books on hermeneutics. The hermeneutical spiral by Grant Osborne is a good place. Another more simple one is, “How to read the Bible for all its worth” by Gordon Fee.

I’ve only ever seen a handful of churches do this well. Most everyone else has a strong CEO Senior Pastor type. I agree with Strauch that you should have flattened leadership. Jesus is the Senior Pastor and all pastors are elders and all elders are pastors.

Random church leadership post. Somewhere along the lines in church history we stopped appointing Elders and instead appointed yes men. Elders should be shepherds of the flock. They should be teaching and discipline people. Finally they should be strong leaders in their homes.
