My @EA account is suspended because I asked my bank to dispute a double charge, after I found NO supports articles nor contact info on EA’s website. This is some next-level petty corporate 💩.
After spending hundred of $, they suspended me for an unknown $19.99 double charge.
For this entire time, when I thought my parents were processing the fact that I’m gay - they weren’t, at all. They’ve been avoiding it and making up excuses for it. Surprisingly, their made up excuses also convinced them.
She sat next to me and said “it’s so awkward when friends and family asked us about you. It was hard for us. So you should make some sacrifices for us.”
Now it’s 10:30pm. We have already had dinner, played slot machines (and lost $50 each), and went back to the room to relax. She just told me that she is serious about what she said at breakfast.
I didn’t really pay much attention to it. On one hand it’s the first time she mentioned this since the trip began 5 days ago. On the other hand it was such an absurd statement (to me) and she didn’t emote when she was talking about it. So I just let it go.
Then my mom threw in this: “Your dad and I still want you to have kids with a woman, in a normal way. No matter what you have to do - prenup, contracts, divorce, whatevs - this is what we hope for and you should consider it. “
I of course went with this convo with her, talking about kids and how purple take care of kids in China vs in the US. Then we started talking about our friends who have already had kids etc.
We were in Coronado Island this morning having breakfast at a Panera. There were a few old ladies with babies (probably their grandkids) near us. My mom started talking about how old people took care of their kids’ kids etc.
Fast forward to a week ago... my mom came to the US. We met up in LA and started our trip there. Everything was fine and we didn’t talk about my being gay at all - until today.
It’s been a quiet coupe of months since. My mom was planning to visit the US in November. The whole trip planning was a good distraction (and convo starter) in our conversation.
I also let them know about the fact of my depression. I think a few things got them that day: my mental health, the fact that I was also suffering, and their words were very harsh and had haunted for months.
A quick recap... my mom got my letter. We didn’t speak for 1+ month. Then she called. Crying, both of us. She accused me of “announcing the gayness”. I defended that it was a hard decision for me too. And it was. VERY HARD to process their words.
I made an appointment with my therapist on Thursday evening - who knows what is going to happen. :(. But honestly, I feel so relieved after sending out the letter: I slept better, smiled more, and was able to disengage that sad mood more. 🌈
