Crazy how even today a lot of people believe Variational's success is due to points
Variational volume was really low for nearly one year after the first points, everything changed when Swaps got introduced
Swaps are just a better product for RWA traders, why would they stay on Trade to pay high fees and get rekt by funding rates?
If you're a Variational bear, try to understand what's happening right now before it's too late
Variational is not another Paradex/GRVT/EdgeX
Congratulations to @variational_io on reaching $300M in TVL - growing over 100% in the last two months!
The Treasury has been scaling as well - now sitting at ~$10M whilst seeing $120k+ daily inflows in the last two weeks.

A year and a half ago, we launched Omni to bring broker-style trading on-chain. Back then, we got excited about hitting $1M in daily volume. As we relentlessly iterated on our product with UI redesigns, spread improvements, new order types, and more listings, our user base grew exponentially. Eventually, we started seeing $10M, $100M, $500M, $1B+ days.
Now, Omni is one of the largest on-chain trading venues by any metric: $3B+ in daily volume and nearly $2B in open interest. More than half of the platform's activity is in non-crypto markets. That rapid growth is driven primarily by swaps, our new instrument bringing TradFi liquidity on-chain.
Omni was (and continues to be) shaped by the feedback of traders. Hyperliquid proved that if you do right by your community, they will do right by you. That's why 32% of $VAR is going to Variational traders at TGE, fully unlocked. No external market makers on Omni, and no points for OLP. 100% of the allocation goes to real users.
We have so much left to build: trading API, 24/7 swaps liquidity, spread rebates, OLP deposits, spot markets, and Pro for options. TGE will be just the start of our journey to make Variational the best place for retail and institutions to trade any global market on-chain.
I'm excited to share more about our upcoming partnerships. For now I'll just say that the wait will be worth it. See you in Q4.
Variational's Lucas Schuermann says the reason to keep asking what the endgame is comes down to the effort it takes to be a founder:
"I ask myself this question a lot. And the reason to ask it a lot is, I think, to really put in the effort that it takes to be a founder. And not just for me, but for the rest of our team of 25."
"We have to have a vision and an endgame and a reason why we wake up every day and grind on this."
"One is on the product side. It's democratizing access. I think that traders globally should be able to trade global markets, without red tape, without restrictions and taxes and fees and onboarding that are so ridiculously fragmenting."
"But more broadly, I like building things that people use."
"The idea of introducing new technology and seeing it become used, and at this point even seeing it be copied. It's really fulfilling."
"For a lot of entrepreneurs, it's really that idea of building something and seeing it be used, and that you feel pride about."

a lot of ppl have asked me why i picked variational to support after hl/lighter
the simple answer is: i think the clob space is essentially "feature complete" with hl+lighter
while variational's RFQ + OLP model allows them to do completely new things, as seen with swaps
Often I get questions about the benefits of swaps:
- Incredible liquidity (direct from tradfi)
- Predictable funding costs (~4.5%)
- Massive RWA listing universe
- All with zero fees
You have to try it to believe ($1M at 0.0029% spread!!)
Swaps are the next generation of perps
We're introducing a new type of market with tighter spreads, larger OI limits, and near-flat carry costs. Swaps will have open hours mirroring traditional markets at first, but soon these will trade 24/7. This enables a huge number of new listings, bringing tradfi fully onchain.
