Sixteen years ago today, my beautiful daughter, Alice was killed by five racing young drivers. She should be almost 29 years old. Instead she is forever 12. 💔

I am told that time will heal - it doesn’t! Here is what Remigio David says….
“This is what grief is. A hole ripped through the very fabric of your being. The hole eventually heals along the jagged edges that remain. It may even shrink in size.
But that hole will always be there.
A piece of you always missing.
For where there is deep grief, there was great love.
Don’t be ashamed of your grief.

Rather, acknowledge it.

There is a @UKLabour Gvt @Keir_Starmer @LouHaigh @LilianGreenwood @transportgovuk @Kate_Dearden intervention which just might have saved Alice’s life, and many others, called a Graduated Driving License or #GDL. All Prime Ministers since Alice was killed have refused to act. @Keir_Starmer - you promised change - it is now time.

Alice’s preventable death is why I campaign to #StopRoadDeath #GDL

School streets in a nutshell, the safe drivers stay away (thank you), leaving only the more dangerous drivers.

They can create a false sense of safety.

Will @NewcastleCC accept public reports to fine these drivers? Or do we have to beg for an expensive consultation and ANPR..?

There were multiple people caught out by this on *literally* just my carriage on that day. TOCs must do better; why would anyone get the train if this is how they will treat you?

@NewcastleCC under @NewcastleLabour no longer doing anything to enable that.

No school streets programme, active travel routes to schools stalled and LTNs ripped out.

Let's hope whoever they pick as their next leader can turn that around.

Thanks to a flat tire and then a snapping hand pump, I bailed out in Heaton… 😑but it did give me more evidence of the work we need to do to make Byker safe for cycling!

This year, I had someone in a Ford Raptor blast their horn at me to move out of the way. My crime? It took me a moment to corral 2 young children and a baby in a pram onto the tiny pavement...
