Governments must collect data on the health & lives of women & girls. What gets measured is most likely to be addressed, so it’s time to fill the data gaps!
What’s next? Now that they’ve committed to #GenderUHC, governments need to take action and live up to the agreement.
1. #GenderEquality & human rights should be at the center of country-level #UHC programs, particularly focusing on equity & access for all.
Women, 70% health workers, must be recognized as change agents and drivers of health. Policies must ensure a safe work environment, without violence/harassment & where women have equal pay & leadership opportunities.
Netherlands and 54 partner countries delivered a strong statement supporting SRHR at #HLMUHC. They emphasized:
- SRHR is an integral part of UHC & SDGs
- Investing in SRHR is cost-effective and cost-saving
- Gender barriers to UHC require participation of marginalized groups
