Today afternoon we had a scary incident in our society (Mahakali Nagar, Mulund East). A group of 4–5 men walked in claiming they were “Tamil Nadu Police” investigating a murder & fraud case. They asked for one of our residents and wanted to enter the building.

Your entire brand and personality is built on insulting others.
While you chase retweets by tearing people down, my family quietly heals lives without needing a spotlight.
They’ve helped more people than your ego can count.
Stay in your lane. And for a change, try being useful.
Why do our roads remain uneven, drainage systems shabby, and public buildings disorderly? Why are tiles in commercial spaces misaligned, plumbing at stations force-fit, and electrical wiring left hanging?
Why do so many products from our small and medium-sized manufacturers fail to meet global standards?
At the heart of all these problems is one root cause: a lack of focus on quality manufacturing.
Quality is the hygiene of manufacturing
In manufacturing, quality is not a luxury. It is the baseline. The sooner this is understood, the better the products we build. In India, we often overlook this truth. One of the fundamental reasons is the lack of respect for hands-on, foundational work.
Imagine the transformation if a welder truly understood that a perfect joint is a safeguard against future structural failures. Imagine if a mason took deep pride in aligning tiles with precision, knowing it contributes not just to aesthetics, but to the long-term durability and dignity of a building. What if a construction worker saw a footpath not as a mundane slab of concrete, but as a smart piece of infrastructure that can solve waterlogging and improve daily life for thousands?
These tasks may seem ordinary, but their impact is extraordinary if done right.
Irony is that their training is often inadequate, their work environments unsafe, and their contributions overlooked.
If India is to rise as a manufacturing and infrastructure powerhouse, this needs to change. That starts with improving training, ensuring safety, and perhaps most importantly changing the narrative. In our current social structure, a clerk earning ₹20,000 a month in an office is seen as more “respectable” than a mason or operator earning the same by building roads, infrastructure, or products. That’s tragic.
Over the past 7–8 years of building batteries, I’ve realized that two traits are crucial for building a good manufacturing ecosystem:
1. Quality consciousness
2. R&D mindset
These qualities are different but complementary.
Quality consciousness is about discipline. It means attention to detail, a structured approach, and strict adherence to SOPs.
The R&D mindset, meanwhile, is about curiosity and courage. It’s about understanding the fundamentals, constantly asking Why, What, and How, and being patient enough to see long-term outcomes. R&D thrives on discomfort. An engineer doing R&D should be disturbed by the fact that someone else is building better technology. That discomfort drives breakthroughs.
In a way, quality is tied to self-respect, while R&D is tied to ego. You build better when you respect what you do, and you innovate better when you refuse to be outdone.

Why I will be voting for Prime Minister Modi & his government
As a rule, I have not spoken on politics in the past. I’d like to break this self-imposed rule this time.
I support Prime Minister Modi and his national government. I think it’s crucial to vote for our Prime Minister, through his candidates, in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. And I seek to share with you the thoughts that have guided this decision.
The obvious reasons from his government’s past record have been covered by many, and I will quickly run through some of them. Dramatic reduction in poverty, emphatic strengthening of the national finances and fisc, vast improvements in infrastructure (I see it in Mumbai, the city I live in, and also Varanasi, the city my family hails from), rising GDP growth rates, investments in science & tech, incentives for start-ups & small-business loans (something I hear about from my readers, who are largely the youth), vastly improved welfare delivery (which has reduced leakages that were common in the past). All good things.
But the key reason is this: The long peace and Global Order that emerged 1945 onwards, after the end of World War II, is clearly coming to an end. Wars are raging across many parts of the world. Old alliances are breaking down. The world is not able to come together to manage Global problems like the after-effects of a once-in-a-generation pandemic like Covid, unsustainable trade imbalances, debt crisis (including in the rich developed world, frankly), piracy issues in the seas, vast reduction in the costs of hi-tech weapons of war (which allows terrorists like Houthis to largely blockade the critical Suez Canal, for instance), the climate crisis… These are timebombs waiting to blow up on the face of the planet. And the world is unprepared to handle most of them.
When a Global Order crumbles, there is usually a time of chaos, tumult and often, war.
We are living in one such period of tumult & intense change. And how the world lands – on its feet or not - in this period, will decide the new Global Order over the next many decades, perhaps even a few centuries. At such critical times, one needs top-of-the-line leadership. The US had exceptional leadership during World War I & II. It led to the present World Order that emerged, and it was very advantageous for the US.
At this critical stage in world history, we Indians need leadership that has intense motivation, competencies that are top-of-the-line, ability to work hard, capability to carry the masses along. And skills to engage with the world with firm clarity; with kindness when possible, but with steely resolve when necessary.
There are many who love and admire Prime Minister Modi. Some do not. To those who don’t, my appeal, at this critical juncture in world history is this: we need a strong government with a clear majority, which can engage with the world in a robust manner and ensure that India emerges at the top at the end of this period of tumult. If India is strong, all of us Indians at least have a chance of being strong. If India weakens (like it did in the late 50s, 60s, 70s & 80s), it is guaranteed that we will all weaken. Remember, because we have a strong government, we can negotiate resolutely with more powerful countries and do things which are in our national interest (like buying oil from Russia, which has kept our inflation in check).
We need Chanakyan leadership at this critical time for our nation, our civilisation. We need Prime Minister Modi to continue. I will be voting for the NDA candidate in my constituency. I hope you will too.

#LokSabhaElections2024
Around 1.5 months ago I saw a msg in a group. A mom asking for help. Her specially abled daughter needed a Grade 4 kid as a reader writer for her final exam. On a whim, I asked my 4th grader daughter if she would like to be one (1/n)
At some point, there needs to be a revision of the UN bodies.
Problem is that those with excess power don’t want to give it up.
India not having a permanent seat on the Security Council, despite being the most populous country on Earth, is absurd.
Africa collectively should also have a permanent seat imo.
Mumbai's startup meets are 2 of the following,
1. Either no one turns up.
2. One star speaker and the meetup is more crowded than Dadar station.
The result is if you are an introverted founder (Which most of us are), you stand in the corner hoping someone would say Hello and the only person who says Hello is a sales employee selling you website building services.
I aim at changing this and start a curated startup group where everyone gets the podium and an opportunity to pitch, demo, learn from other's experiences, get ideas, leads, and grow!
If you wanna be part of this startup group, do join the sub reddit - https://t.co/KCP2JpROe6 and DM me your Name, phone number, and what you are working on to join the Startup Mumbai whatsapp group.
Below are the pics from the awesome session from yesterday at Khar, Mumbai.
P.S: Our star speaker @Ronak16 enthralled us all with his unique journey of his previous startup acquisition. Our next startup meet will be in 2 weeks. Come!
Last year, a coworker randomly asked me to hand-deliver an antique violin across the country. I said yes, because why not. I had no idea what I was getting into, and now I need your help. A 🧵
