Thoughts on the Jason Robertson report:

Embarrassing for the Kraken that this came out. Real gut punch for the org.

I like that they went after Robertson. I'm impressed Botterill was able to get the framework of a trade done.

But at the end of the day, aggressiveness doesn't matter unless you have a real expectation of winning you can sell to players.

The Kraken are desperately trying to push a narrative that they're competently building a winner, and players just aren't buying it- and they're right not to buy it. Fans in Seattle have mostly stopped buying it.

Seattle is a great city. It may not be the most desirable destination, but it has enough to work with. If players will go to Edmonton to win, they'd go to Seattle to win.

But this team isn't good. Even with Robertson, it's probably not a playoff team. The org's delusion about what they've built doesn't help attract players. In fact, it may be counterproductive.

Ownership and the front office need to take a long, hard look in the mirror and wake up to the reality of where their shortsighted mentality has taken them. It's become clear there's no quick fix.
