@EddieComeaux If a woman or any individual cannot transfer on the basis of sexual assault without fear of losing a scholarship, there are serious issues within the infrastructure of intercollegiate athletics that need to be urgently addressed, epescially within the NCAA. #AthletesRights
@KhrystalieL @helloJuJudy I agree! I think student athletes would greatly benefit from being able to smoothly transition their college life to a career. I feel like more programs with strategic approaches to this transition would be very beneficial! @helloJuJudy#UCR50
Student athletes should be able to have a smooth transition from school to their career. https://t.co/Rm9Ef5LbNz One thing mentioned in this article is athletes eventual and inevitable retirement. Is that something they should be prepared for in college?
#UCR50@helloJuJudy
@btoledo50@helloJuJudy Have you seen the recent news about athletes supposedly being able to receive profit? Interesting read about the topic: https://t.co/RFMCio8Lvd

The NCAA is a self-interest organization that does not enforce their own rules, at least if they do not serve making money. Is this the type of organization that should have a presence in higher education institutes?

Not only has Title IX served as a foundation for gender equality, but it has perpetuated a once unfounded strength to women in higher education. The successes of Title IX are many, but there are still problems that could be addressed. #UCR50@helloJuJudy https://t.co/XHzN42rGHY
@vicentevlzqz@helloJuJudy I feel that the lack of diversity is a much larger issue than anyone could anticipate. I wonder what solutions could be put in place to help diversify college sports. Even so, will those solutions become long term, or will they be a temporary fix? #UCR50@helloJuJudy
Intercollegiate athletics tends to use its platform to perpetuate rhetorics focused around pitting people of color against each other. How might using their platform for diversity be done and how might that be more sustainable? #UCR50@helloJuJudy

@yoselineMirand4 @helloJuJudy I think the pressure of being a student athlete is greatly influenced by protocols or the lack thereof from the foundations that serve student athletes (like the NCAA). What can be done to help students find balance or is enough already being done? #UCR50@helloJuJudy
With regards to the varying factors of IAC, the revelations of such factors call into question the mental health protocols in place for student athletes which begs the question of whether or not the NCAA or likewise for student athletes are doing enough.
#UCR50@helloJuJudy
@SoEunKim17 @helloJuJudy I think this is an interesting perspective of data as the NCAA reports data that excludes certain factors such as class, race, and at risk students from their data. I think this data from the NCAA is for their image rather than to actually report the truth. #UCR50@helloJuJudy
It seems the NCAA's rules are meant to balance a student athlete's athletics and college performance. However, studies paint a different picture. Is the NCAA to blame for the lack of balance regarding athletes and their academics?

@IdelisaRosas@helloJuJudy I feel that the disparity here is enormous and that faculty counterparts to coaches should receive equal pay. It also calls into question whether or not athletes deserve compensation based on the large budget for athletics. #UCR50@helloJuJudy
Is it unfair that coaches make more than regular professors? It seems that, in my opinion, there is a problem with the amount a coach makes versus a professor. How might this difference be unfair or is it unfair at all? https://t.co/ueitRA73xI…

The NCAA has been met with controversy since its replacement of ACE began in the 1900's. Could a new governing body for intercollegiate athletics possibly take center stage given the NCAA's controversies?

@literallymayra@helloJuJudy@literallymayra I completely agree that a student athlete's academics should not be compromised due to their athletic duties. The NCAA should reform a different plan to better student-athlete relations and improve the overall quality of their education. #UCR50
@Vincent11351467 @Songling_GSOE Agreed! I also want to point out how effective a lot of the programs have been for student of color athletes and would love to see more for women of color athletes as they are going to be at a disadvantage over everyone else. #UCR150 @Songling_GSOE
@Songling_GSOE #UCR150 African American athletes are left participating in academic misconduct in order to maintain their grades. Why is it that their male counterparts don't run into this problem as often? Who should take responsibility for this?
