Gaza left our colleague Zein Tayyeb with questions, memories and a different understanding of what humanity can look like in the darkest moments.
In her own words.
Nour’s story speaks to something I have seen across #Lebanon: people turning their own loss into support for others.
Young women like Nour play a crucial role in the humanitarian response &community recovery. Their experience, leadership &voices must be part of what comes next.
As the crisis enters its 4th month, critical assistance is at risk of interruption due to funding shortfalls.
📢 5 June: Launch of revised Flash Appeal to mobilize resources and sustain the response.

🧵1/4 Visited south #Lebanon today w/ @UNHCRLebanon@UNDP_Lebanon & @OCHALebanon
Met @UNIFIL_ HoM @DiodatoAbagnara & peacekeepers in Naqoura. Deep admiration for their commitment during these very difficult times.
We spoke of how to better reach, support and protect civilians
2/3 Impressive to see ongoing efforts to assess damage and support affected communities despite the immense challenges.
Municipalities are working tirelessly to restore electricity, telecommunications & other basic services to help people cope and begin rebuilding with dignity.
UNICEF welcomes the announcement of a ceasefire in #Lebanon last night. This step offers a critical opportunity to protect children and families who have endured immense suffering.
Over the past 46 days, children have paid a devastating price. At least 172 children have reportedly been killed and 661 injured. More than 415,000 children have been displaced.
This ceasefire must hold. We reiterate the United Nations Secretary General call for everyone to fully respect the ceasefire and to comply with international law at all times.
Children need more than a pause in hostilities – they need a real chance to recover.
Recovery will take time as widespread destruction of homes, hospitals, schools and infrastructure will limit children’s access to essential services. Restoring education, healthcare, water systems, and other basic services is a priority.
UNICEF continues to work with the Lebanese government and partners to meet urgent needs to support the path to recovery. It calls on all countries and donors to urgently join these efforts to ensure children have access to the protection, care, and opportunities they need - to heal, rebuild their lives, and reach their full potential.
Deeply disturbed by repeated attacks on health facilities and workers in #SouthLebanon.
Last night, 12 health workers were killed in an airstrike on a primary health care center in Burj Qalaouiyah.
Health facilities and health workers are #NotATarget.
In Gaza, unexploded ordnance — bombs and missiles that didn’t detonate — put communities in grave danger.
@UNMAS & partners are working to remove these hazards, protect lives, and create safe routes for people and humanitarian aid.

By investing in learning and operational readiness, we equip both emerging and experienced responders with the tools to deliver principled, effective, and people-centred humanitarian action across the region and beyond.

Reflecting on my visit to #Jordan.
Spending time with colleagues at @ocharomena, I was inspired by their dedication – and share their concerns for the future of humanitarian work amid the attacks on our mandate and funding.
I wanted to share their voices, in their own words.✨
A privilege to meet Secretary General @DAAlfayez 🇯🇴.
Jordan’s humanitarian leadership – from welcoming refugees to facilitating access – is an example for many.
Grateful for our strong partnership and Jordan's commitment to multilateralism in serving those most in need.
A joy to reconnect with the formidable @NyantiSara on the sidelines of the #SocialSummit2025 in Doha.
Her resilience and steadfast leadership continue to elevate Liberia’s voice on the global stage.
A true inspiration. 🌍🇱🇷🇺🇳
What is happening in Gaza is indefensible.
It is inhumane.
It is utterly unjustifiable.
And it must end now.

In #Haiti, insecurity complicates movement of lifesaving humanitarian cargo.
This week, a @WFP cargo flight organized by @logcluster delivered 6 tonnes of essential medical supplies for @UNICEFHaiti.
Despite challenges, WFP logistics support the entire humanitarian community.
🔴 Attacks on aid workers must end.
🔴 Perpetrators must be held accountable.
🔴 We cannot become numb to this violence.
Member States gathering today at the UN #SecurityCouncil must demand accountability, prevent more killing and act on resolution 2730.
#NotATarget
Honored and grateful for this recognition! Civil-military coordination in humanitarian action is a challenging but necessary space, and I am proud to contribute alongside so many dedicated colleagues.
