#Pakistan🇵🇰 #IHRF's official statement. The International Human Rights Foundation has conducted a meticulous review of the legal proceedings against Mr Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister, and Mr Shah Mehmood Qureshi, the former Foreign Minister. Our findings reveal a disturbing disregard for the basic principles of justice and due process. We note with deep concern the lack of basic procedural safeguards in their trials. The denial of access to their chosen legal counsel, the closure of the trial to the public and the prohibition of cross-examination of prosecution witnesses are flagrant violations of rights enshrined in international law, including the right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

The charges against Mr Khan and Mr Qureshi appear to be grossly exaggerated, the allegations remain unproven and suggest a political undertone to their prosecution. Such practices not only undermine the credibility of the legal system, but also violate the principles of justice and fairness at the heart of international human rights law. The lack of transparency and impartiality in the conduct of these trials casts a long shadow over the rule of law and the administration of justice in the country concerned.

In light of these findings, the International Human Rights Foundation unequivocally calls for the immediate quashing of the trial proceedings against Mr Imran Khan and Mr Shah Mehmood Qureshi. We call for the withdrawal of all charges and their immediate release from custody. We also call for a thorough and impartial investigation to determine the criminal liability of those involved in orchestrating this miscarriage of justice. The Foundation stands firm in its commitment to uphold the principles of justice and human rights and urges the international community to join in solidarity to redress these grave injustices.

The Predicament of Muslims in India and IIOJ&K: A Thread on Persecution and Contrast with Pakistan

The deplorable conditions of Muslims in IIOJ&K and throughout India demand the immediate attention of the international community. India's attempts to project a false sense of normalcy in IIOJ&K are a smokescreen hiding the harsh reality faced by Kashmiris and Muslims across the country.

Let's delve into the real face of India in IIOJ&K. Since 1947, more than 2,50,000 Kashmiris have lost their lives, and over 100,000 children have been orphaned due to the conflict. The numbers are staggering, but the cruelty doesn't end there.

Some grim statistics from 1989 onwards paint a harrowing picture:
96,000 extrajudicial killings, 161,967 cases of torture, 31,240 documented rapes, 109,885 properties destroyed, 7,000+ mass graves, 0.7 million active personnel, Curfew and E-Curfew after the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A.

As Per US Harper magazine, there is only one doctor for 3060 x kashmiris while there is one soldier for every seven kashimiris. The incidents of rapes, forced disappearances, and killings have increased since the abrogation of Article 370 and 35-A:
- 2,363 cases of torture and critical injuries
- 792 extrajudicial killings
- 192 women gang-raped
- 21,256 civilians arrested

It's essential to highlight the stark contrast within IIOJ&K and Azad Kashmir. While Azad Jammu & Kashmir has its own legislative assembly, president, and prime minister, India has stripped IIOJ&K of its special status, relegating it to the status of a union territory, eroding its protection from demographic manipulations.

The United Nations Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) has faced restrictions from India in IIOJ&K. There have been long delays in visa issuance, and no ceasefire has been reported since 1972 to prevent observers from visiting forward posts.

Contrasting this with the situation on the Pakistani side, in 2020/21, UNMOGIP conducted 666 observation post tasks, received 149 complaints of ceasefire violations, and investigated 141 complaints. It's a stark disparity.

When we examine the composition of the armed forces and bureaucracy, we find that many HIndu officers have risen to senior ranks in Pakistan. However, there are few such examples in the Indian Army, reflecting a significant lack of diversity and inclusion.

The plight of Muslims in mainland India is equally alarming. According to the Genocide Watch Report of April 2023, Modi's Hindutva agenda has fueled intolerance across the country, leading to a surge in anti-minority acts of terrorism.

In the New Delhi clashes, 2020, violence broke out as Muslims and others protested the Citizenship Amendment Act in New Delhi. Around fifty people were killed, most of them Muslim. Some BJP politicians helped incite the violence, and police reportedly did not intervene to stop Hindu mobs from attacking Muslims

In August 2022, BJP Government approved early release of 11 x men sentenced to life in prison for gang rape and murders during 2002 Gujarat anti-Muslim riots.

Under so-called "anti-terrorism laws," journalists have been detained for reporting anti-Muslim sentiments. Genocide Watch considers the BJP Government's actions to be a Stage 6: Polarization, Stage 7: Preparation, and Stage 8: Persecution. Modi's claims of "uplifting the Muslim community" are, unfortunately, a Stage 10: Denial.

According to Article 14's report of August 9, 2023:
- Indian Muslims live in highly segregated neighborhoods.
- Areas with a 100% Muslim population are deprived of basic amenities and educational opportunities.
- Government-supplied public services are less likely to be found in neighborhoods with a high Muslim population.
- Electoral representation is nominal, with just 5% representation compared to a 15% population share.
