I posted about a web-app product to reimagine how to we extract the knowledge from blogs with AI and have an addictive interface for it (https://t.co/r99uXELXt5) - thank you all for your overwhelming messages supporting it and more importantly asking for access!
today :
I have traversed the whole journey of converting that product insight into a fully functional iOS app with a cloud backend, account management etc -- all the bell and whistles that a typical app has. Calling it "SnippetApp". Its 2 focus areas : [1] extract insights/frameworks from any blog and condense it into 6-7 instagram-style stories. And [2] when I am interested to read the actual blog, chunks the long blog into *voila* IG-style stories again for me to tap through while walking around.
Along the path, I also picked up another problem statement that matters a lot to me as a product leader (and a family guy) i.e. keeping a track of my
- tasks
- decisions &
- memories
.....without typing or having to think about how best to organise my stuff. A simple voice-first experience that acts as my EA and adds/edit/searches back stuff as I blabber at office or at home. Say hello to "VoiceBlocks". And yes I use Function Calling here -- plan to shift to an SLM.
Both these iOS apps and their model agnostic backend has been built by me, AI agents, and a credit card that paid for the ride. n8n like AI workflows are fun but I have been more excited to experience how to build a "real product" that can live on real people's phone who don't care about AI or LLMs or workflows and all the jazz. They just value "invisible magic".

My updated take on #vibecoding for folks in the weeds : you can definitely vibe code an interface/UI but for building functional AI-native systems, the current LLM coding agents need you to have a engineer-like worldview of your system -- you can't just "keep chatting" for building out a backend. I can't recollect the number of times I had to pause Claude and tell it that "hey, this is not the right table, the right architercture or we need to explore a different OS package etc" -- you need to be an "engineer" at heart.

What's next for these 2 apps : I will continue to ship my personal product roadmap and if there's enough interest consider building out the android equivalent. I am just glad to continue using these for myself -- this journey truly made me appreciate the weight engineers pull everyday (especially the effort that it takes to get a local server on the cloud!) 🫡

my sister is interviewing at startups after i convinced her to. i met with her today, and she remarked how much more excited and happy the people she met in startup world were than the ones she had met in banking/consulting.
both work many hours, but startup employees share this fact with glee rather than dismay.

Twitter used to be the place I used to come for intelligent humor (aka shitposting), meaningful dialogue, discovering tech trends, access to people building and running things.
Unfortunately, 80% of twitter now is noise. 500 posts saying the same thing (copied by people who barely understand the thing), rage-bait, bots, shit-takes (not to be confused with the mushroom), linkedin-like comments (that don't add value) and so on.
I miss the earlier twitter.
