Dear @BarbaraLeeForCA, @Senlaphonza, @AlexPadilla4CA —
I was born in DC, spent a decade in Oakland, and am now a 5th generation Berkeleyan. I am a lifelong democratic volunteer and donor.
And today I am asking for you to support the FIT21 Act. Why? Read on.
———
I was born in DC and spent the first 18 years of my life going to a Quaker school. This upbringing taught me two things:
1. I learned how the systems of this great country work, how much good they can do, but also how much room for improvement there is.
2. I learned to relentlessly pursue making the world a better place, one where we treat everyone with respect and give everyone the opportunity to make the most of their lives
When I was 18, I moved to California. Part of it was that my mom was born here, but the primary driver was that there’s something special about the people of California. We are relentlessly optimistic. We see the future and we make it happen. We are builders.
And that is why I, and so many others, are writing writing to you today. We are here to update the system. We are here to build a global onchain economy that works for all of us.
And we are not alone. There are over eight million Californians and 52 million Americans that own crypto — and that number is growing every day.
It’s because of these millions of Americans that I created @base and it’s why we Stand With Crypto. And we are already having a massive impact.
We’ve seen hundreds of restaurants around the country use @base to improve their margins and serve happier customers.
We’ve seen thousands of artists use @base to earn from their work without having middlemen charge them bogus fees.
We’ve seen tens of thousands of builders use @base to build the next generation of products that will change the world.
We've seen hundreds of thousands of advocates come together to push for change. And that change is already happening.
In the 9 months since we launched, millions of people have started to come onchain — both because they want to use these incredible onchain products, but ALSO because they believe that together, we can update the system.
So, when you are are legislating about crypto, we want to make sure they understand that crypto represents each and every one of us, your constituents, who are working tirelessly to revolutionize finance, art, business, gaming, music, and more.
California is the home to so many bold and influential ideas. And as the world comes onchain, California should be a leader. And that is why your vote on the the FIT21 Act is so important.
FIT21 sets foundational rules for crypto that are pro-consumer, pro-innovation, and pro-job creation. It will protect 52 million Americans who own crypto, unlock the creation of millions of jobs in the U.S., and ensure America and California remains a global leader in technology.
We have been waiting patiently for years for our lawmakers to serve us, and strengthen America’s role in building the future of money and the internet. And now is the time for you to step up to the plate.
Vote Yes on FIT21. @standwithcrypto. Thank you for your time.
@fede_intern If you want a diverse organization, you want a diverse applicant pool. That happens WAY before hiring. It is also far less performative to work on broadening the applicant pool.
@WestieCapital@vitalik I see. If the value of Eigen < Oracle A + Oracle B, then Eigen slashing would be less useful. My bet is the value of Eigen is proportional to the value of all the AVSs secured by it, not just A and B and would be valued accordingly.
@WestieCapital Consider @Vitalik’s example of Brazil bifurcating. Assume two AVS oracles, one for prediction markets (including election outcomes) and one for currency value. They would ideally be in sync, hence the title of the Eigen whitepaper: the UNIVERSAL Intersubjective Work Token.
The community of the DAO
Decentralized autonomous organizations are growing as alternative research funding models, but are also strong scientific communities. We should get on board https://t.co/x8wigDxOIh
