I am so excited to announce that I have my very own class next year! I canโt wait to start teaching with my year one students. Bring on 2020! #acuedu_P ๐ฉโ๐ซ๐๐
And just like that my second last semester of uni is done! Iโm looking forward to my final placement starting next week! Good luck and have fun everyone completing theirs too! ๐ #ACUedu_p
In order to grow positive relationships with parents you must first genuinely want to! If you are interested about them, their lives and needs they will respond with the same interest. As the saying goes, โbeing interested makes you interesting!โ #AcuEdu_P
I love the idea of a classroom that has different areas that allow students to work in a way that suits their learning styles. Whether that be individually, collaboratively, on a desk or on the floor, every child feels like they belong! ๐ฅฐ #ACUedu_p
Another great idea that worked for me was to think about what you would want people to say about you as a teacher, or who people would say you are as a teacher. Thanks @Davo452 for inspiring us to think about who we are as teachers! I found this lesson very valuable!
I think this is a great idea for beginning teachers to do to get them thinking about their teacher identity! Start by drawing what you believe youโre teacher qualities/identity is and then describe/write it underneath. #AcuEdu_P
With ANZAC day coming up, I am reminded of this beautiful book "Anzac Biscuits" by Phil Cummings. It is a rich resource to support Stage 2 History: 'Community and Remembrance'. There are also rich links to other KLA's like English. #acuedu_p
It was great to look at artefacts today and link them with AITSL standards. For me, it has really solidified my understandings of how the AITSL standards look in real life teaching practice! #ACUedu_p
Should I group support students together and give them a scaffold to work with and group the extension students together? Or should I do mixed ability groups so they can all work together and learn from each other as each child has a form of intelligence! #AcuEdu_P
I am currently trying to organise differentiation for support and extension students for a unit of work in where students will be working in groups of four. Some research says ability grouping is not beneficial whilst others say it is. What do you think?
Classroom Management: Building strong positive relationship with students is essential to establish positive environment. I think this is a great way to know your students more. #ACUedu_p
Some advice that resonated with me today, is to stay calm when addressing difficult behaviours. Staying calm means you can approach student management in a positive way, which allows your students to feel safe, valued, and respected by you as a teacher! ๐ฉโ๐ซ๐จโ๐ซ #acuedu_p
