You spent months criticizing Qatar and talking about every possible issue before and during the 2022 World Cup, yet it turned out to be one of the best-organized tournaments in history. Public transportation was free, fans could travel easily between stadiums some fans saw 4 matches in the stadium in same day, and the overall organization was praised by millions of visitors.

Now, when concerns are being raised about visa delays, strict entry procedures, and travel difficulties surrounding tournaments in the United States, we don't hear the same level of criticism from you. There have also been complaints about organizational decisions and match arrangements that many fans consider unnecessary or difficult, yet your voice is nowhere near as loud as it was when Qatar hosted the World Cup.

If your criticism is truly based on principles, then the same standards should apply to everyone. But when Qatar receives endless criticism while similar concerns elsewhere are met with silence, people are naturally going to question whether your issue was really about organization at all.

UPDATE: This morning, Israeli police filed an indictment against Spanish flotilla activist Reyes Rigo Cervilla, with a request for pretrial detention. If granted, this means she will not be immediately released.

Rigo Cervilla is accused of assaulting a guard in Ketziot prison. She is currently the only one of 479 people detained with the first flotilla to have been singled out in this way.

Eyewitnesses told me that, after days of abuse, Rigo Cervilla, 56, was attacked by guards for defending another woman and advocating for everybody to be allowed mattresses to sleep on. Guards dragged her into a cell by her hair and then threw her in solitary confinement,

In videos from court, she can be heard begging for help and whispering that she is being threatened.

The six other activists (three Norwegians, two Moroccans and one Nigerian) still detained from the first flotilla are expected to be deported today or tomorrow, along with some of the 145 detained with the second flotilla. Israel has not indicated otherwise, and simply isn't drawing attention to their continued detention.

At this stage, it is just Rigo Cervilla who is facing a longer detention.

زرتُ عند هذا المساء أماني بزي، المرأة التي فقدت زوجها وأطفالها الثلاثة في ٢١ أيلول في بنت جبيل، جنوب لبنان.
طلبت أن تراني… فذهبت. جلست معها ساعتين.
استمعت إليها وهي تفتح قلبها ببطء … وجعٌ يفيض من بين كلماتها، ودموع لم تعرف طريقها إلى الخدّين منذ ذلك اليوم المشؤوم.
قالت لي إنها لأول مرة تبكي منذ المأساة.
ابنتها ما زالت في غيبوبة في العناية الفائقة، تصارع من أجل الحياة.
وهي نفسها تحاول أن تشفي جراح الجسد، لأنّ جراح النفس لا تُشفى أبداً.
تعّرفت إلى امرأة في ال٣٣ من العمر، درست في مدارس الراهبات حيث تآلفت مع التعليم المسيحي، وواصلت طريقها الأكاديمي حتى تخرّجت من جامعة الروح القدس – الكسليك. امرأة عاشت للحب والعائلة، لأطفالها وزوجها، وكان بيتها عامراً بالضحك والدفء والإيمان.
وفي لحظة واحدة، خسرت كل شيء.
جلست أمام سيدة لم يزرها أحد من كبار هذا البلد، ولا من الذين يرفعون الشعارات عن الرحمة والإنسانية.
لم تتلقَّ أي دعم من الدولة، ولا كلمة عزاء من مسؤول إلّا من قلّة قليلة. فقط الصمت، والخذلان، والوجع.
تحدثنا طويلاً … ساعتان من الكلام والسكوت والدموع.
كانت والدتها إلى جانبها، تهمس له�� بالدعاء، تمسح عنها الحزن الذي لا يُمسح.
لكن وسط هذا الركام، وجدتُ امرأة ��ن نورٍ نادر:
حكيمة، متزّنة، واضحة، ووطنية حتى العظم. امرأة فقدت كل شيء، لكنها لم تفقد كرامتها ولا حبّها لوطنها.
قبل أن أغادر، قدّمت لي قطعة شوكولا قالت إنها "عن روح أطفالها" … لتذكّرهم.
جاءتها دعوات من كلّ مكان وصلوات من دير "مار شربل" في عنّايا.
نزعتُ سوار سيدة لورد العجائبية الذي أضعه في معصمي ليل نهار، وأعطيتها إياه. وهي وضعته على يدها، رجاءً أن يُشفى قلبها وطفلتها.
خرجت من عندها وأنا أحمل نظرتها … تلك النظرة التي لا تُنسى، نظرة تقول كل شيء عن بلدٍ ترك أبناءه وحدهم أمام العواصف.
صلّوا لأجلها.
