“You can oppose Trump and still applaud the removal of Nicolás Maduro. You can hold two thoughts in your head at the same time. Trump is not the moral compass of the universe, and Maduro still belongs in prison.” Michel Hausmann on substack: https://t.co/tqVYqWM00E
My column on Venezuela in @TheEconomist
“Prosperity does not come from oil, decrees or even benevolent rulers. It comes from rights. Rights create private property. Rights create security. Rights create debate. Rights allow people to invest, to innovate, to dream—and to transform reality. Take rights away, and society withers. Restore them, and recovery is possible.”

@CrisisStudent Hopefully goods price jump (+0.4% MoM) is really a distortion and not firms pricing US tariff costs worldwide. Or upward pressure from global supply-chain distortions as @Isabel_Schnabel cited.
@DavidBeckworth Interesting. But as you change the anticipated path (roll-off) in a model there is a direct reaction of the term premium (steepening). Then the same stance of MP restrictiveness comes with lower short-term rates? https://t.co/IQcfbPIQfP
„interest rates should be lower, the balance sheet should be smaller“: IMHO QT leads to latent upward pressure on longer term yields. “low money supply leads to much lower inflation and lower interest rates“: IMHO low money supply leads to higher interest rates.@DavidBeckworth
Kevin Warsh to Larry Kudlow on FBN:
-"You can have materially lower interest rates" if the Fed would shrink a couple trillion dollars off the balance sheet.
-"We're in a housing recession right now."
-Financial market conditions are loose.
-"Tariffs are not inflationary."
@maurerchr@olk_julian Teile ihre Punkte. Habe mal was von 11,5 Mrd. Entlastung gelesen.

"Global economic growth trends varied markedly by sector in July. Sustained - but slower - services growth, led by financial services, contrasted with a near-stalling of output growth in the manufacturing economy." #PMI#sector
