87.5% OF H-1B FILINGS WOULD MISS SHEEHY'S FLOOR

S.5097, the End H-1B Abuse Act, sets a $200,000 minimum wage for H-1B workers.

DOL certified 392,175 H-1B filings from October 2025 through June 2026. 343,332 offered less than $200,000.

New hires fall even shorter. Only 9.9% of new-employment filings cleared $200,000.

The bill also makes employers swear they had no layoffs in the 12 months before filing and will have none in the 12 months after.

A layoff would cost a company its H-1B access for a year.

WHERE’S THE ACTION ON THIS?

[LayoffHedge @LayoffAI]

AI LAYOFFS BOOMING? Look again.

When I started this account (hence the name Layoff AI), Block had just laid off 40% of their staff and stock price went up.

What I've learned since is how much AI is just used as an excuse. Over hiring, cheap foreign labor, or just the desire to downsize came up much more often.

Take AMEX for example. They employ over 22,000 in their INDIA GCC, their largest office. Visa filings booming. This has nothing to do with AI.

AI efficiencies ARE REAL, and are growing within businesses.

The real problem is we have not even scratched the surface of what those layoffs may look like, and these companies are using it as a cover to continue to place blame.

[LayoffHedge @LayoffAI]

INSIDE THE 3,500 EMPLOYEES LAID OFF FROM AMEX

They should drop the American in their name.

Only 25,900 of its 76,800 employees work in the US.

In 2024 it opened the largest office it has ever built from the ground up. Gurugram, India. Nearly one million square feet. 18,000+ employed across India.

Between November and June it also got 554 H-1B positions certified. 189 of those filings sat at the top wage level. 187 for NEW hires.

Today it books a $336 million restructuring charge and cuts about 5% of its workforce. At an estimated $96,000 a head in restructuring costs the points to American layoffs.

Watching closely.

The Message

This is a film portraying the life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and the birth of Islam in 7th century Mecca and Medina. It depicts the early opposition faced by the Prophet ﷺ and his followers, their migration (Hijra) to Medina, and the subsequent conflicts and eventual establishment of Islam in Mecca.

The Beginnings in Mecca: The film introduces a time of idolatry in Mecca, where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ begins receiving and preaching the message of one God. This message is met with severe resistance from the wealthy ruling class, leading to persecution of his early followers.

Migration to Abyssinia and Medina: Facing increased threats, many followers seek refuge in Abyssinia, while Prophet Muhammad ﷺ eventually journeys to Medina to mediate between warring factions, an event that marks the start of the Islamic calendar.

Early Battles and Conflict: Tensions lead to the battles of Badr and Uhud, depicting the struggle for survival and the establishment of Muslim community laws and ethics, including the treatment of prisoners and the emphasis on equality.

Truce and Conquest of Mecca: After a period of truce, the conflict culminates in the peaceful conquest of Mecca. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ enters the city, grants forgiveness to his former enemies, and cleanses the Kaaba of idols.

The Final Message: The film concludes with Prophet Muhammad's ﷺ final sermon before his passing.

Fermented foods lowered inflammation over 17 weeks. Adding more fiber did neither.

That's the finding from a Stanford randomized trial, and it should reframe how we think about feeding the gut.

Researchers assigned healthy adults to one of two microbiome-targeted diets, high-fiber or high-fermented-food, and ran deep immune and microbiome profiling across 17 weeks. The expectation going in was intuitive: fiber feeds your bacteria, so more of it should mean a healthier microbiome and lower inflammation.

That's not what happened.

The high-fiber group's inflammatory markers stayed flat. Its primary immune outcome, a composite cytokine response score, was unchanged from start to finish. And microbial diversity, one of the more reliable markers of gut resilience, held steady rather than rising.

The fermented-food group moved both. Inflammation declined steadily across the trial. Diversity climbed.

Fiber feeds bacteria the substrate they can digest. The study captured a signature of exactly this - i.e., the microbiome's glycan-degrading enzyme capacity rose while overall diversity stayed flat, consistent with the existing community upregulating rather than broadening

Fermented foods appear to do something structurally different. Live microbes plus the metabolic byproducts of fermentation seem to expand diversity directly, rather than by feeding what's already there. Greater diversity tracks with lower inflammatory load, and the fermented arm moved that lever while the fiber arm did not.

One detail worth sitting with: fiber wasn't inert for everyone. High-fiber consumers split into three distinct immune trajectories, and which one you landed in tracked your baseline microbiome diversity. Fiber's effect was contingent on the gut that received it. People starting with more diverse microbiomes likely respond differently than this average suggests.

Limitations:

Eighteen people per arm, healthy adults, 17 weeks. Inflammatory markers are intermediate biology, not clinical endpoints. Fiber's metabolic and cardiovascular benefits are established on separate, far larger evidence, and this trial doesn't touch them.

But for the specific job of moving the microbiome and inflammation, piling on more fiber wasn't the lever. The fermented foods, however, moved the needle.

Allah ﷻ removes fear and grief from His servants, He welcomes them into Paradise with their loved ones, surrounds them with everything their souls desire and their eyes delight in, grants them eternity, and then reminds them that none of the good they did in this world was forgotten.

This gives meaning to every sincere act of obedience. There may be moments when righteousness requires sacrifice and when worldly alternatives appear more attractive. But the believer remembers that the sacrifice is temporary while the reward is eternal. Nothing surrendered for Allah ﷻ is truly lost, and nothing sincerely done for Him is ever wasted. Ultimately, the deeds of this short life become the means, through Allah’s mercy, to an everlasting reward. A few decades of faith, worship, patience, and obedience are exchanged for a Paradise in which every desire is fulfilled, blessings are abundant, and life never comes to an end.

One point the film NAZA makes, which may be obvious to some, is that one of the reasons Israel decided to strike Hamas fighters in their homes with family asleep rather than when they assembled outdoors is spelled out by one intel official:

“There are only so many military sites in Gaza — hundreds? But there are lots of private homes. There are 40,000 operatives, so that’s nearly 40,000 homes.”

The goal was to maximize the carnage and the destruction of civilians infrastructure and the killing of non-combatants.

The AI used for targeting also identified many civilians as Hamas operatives — an official gives an example of a baker who has customers in Hamas; the AI would flag that he had been in contact with Hamas members and kill him and his entire family at home.

Secondly, there seems to be a phenomenon of feminists complaining about the direct effects of feminism.

Look at the data from the West post-WWII (1950s):

• Unmarried adults: 17.3%
• Median Age of First Marriage: 20

Second-wave feminism explosion (1970s–1980s):

• Unmarried adults: 22.5%
• Median Age of First Marriage: 22–24

Third-wave feminism shift (1990s–2000s):

• Unmarried adults: 26.9%
• Median Age of First Marriage: 25.1

Fourth-Wave Reality (Present Day / 2020s):

• Unmarried adults: 31.5%–45%
• Median Age of First Marriage: 28.6 (Historic high)

Now look at the present day reality of Western countries:

• In the US: 46% to 49% of all adults aged 15 and older are unmarried. Among adults aged 30 to 39, the unmarried share has nearly tripled, jumping from 15% in 1960 to 46% by the mid-2020s.

• In the UK: Roughly 40% of the adult population lives as singles.

• In continental Europe: In countries like Germany and France, singles make up roughly 45% of the population.

The percentage of single people, particularly women, across Western countries is currently at historic highs, hovering between 40% and 50%.

Feminism is quite literally one of the main reasons the native Western demographic is dwindling, resulting in a rise of an unhappy, never-married, childless, and ageing population.

The West is an example to every nation on earth of what happens when God is abandoned, gender roles and family units are dismantled, and secular liberal progressives win.

The rise of feminism amongst Muslim women is, you guessed it, leading to the exact same results.

There are over one billion Muslim men on this earth. The issue is not a lack of options. The issue is Muslim men and women abandoning their faith and adopting secular ideologies that Islam explicitly rejects.

The solution is not to defy Islam or pretend something is allowed (halal) when it is not.

The solution is to return to Islam.

Ps. Dr Aaliyah Khan advertises a 'Beginner's Guide to Islamic Feminism'. You cannot market the disease and then whine about the epidemic.

What English Professor Dr. Abdal Hakim Murad (T.J. Winter) reflects on so beautifully here is very important; Islam is a religion of love. Rumi’s beloved companion Shams-i Tabrīzī famously said that the Quran is a “love letter” (ishq-nāma) sent by God to humans. For the Sufis of the Chishtiyya Order, the most important thing is the love of God. Furthermore, Rumi states: Love is the path and road of our Prophet (Muhammad), see: Rumi’s Quatrain no. 49, translated by Dr. Ibrahim Gamard and Farhadi.

Today a Palestinian State is necessary. Not for moral or ideological reasons, only for pragmatic ones. A portion of America's elite class has gone rogue. They are now dedicating their immense wealth and power into solely one issue. The promotion of the state of israel over the the American people.

This has manifested in Trump's war in iran, censorship, banning artists from stadiums, getting normal people fired, sending politicians tens of millions of dollars in campaign races for israel, making sure congress ends billions of us tax dollars to israel every year.

It's a huge problem. The US political system is not built to handle a rogue elite who puts the interests of a foreign nation over the interests of America.

The only way to stop this group is to get leverage over them. To put a check on their power. A Palestinian state lets the US discipline this group by taking land away from Israel. Right now there is no check on their power. It's a big problem.
