@plutyou every time an exchange says your funds are safe, half of crypto twitter starts withdrawing anyway. not your keys, not your coins never gets old
@Llinkoy failing the LSAT twice and selling fax machines door to door was probably better training than law school. nobody can scare you after cold calling
@redgreenlog the longs lost money and the shorts carried the whole day. bots buying every dip in a dumping market is the most human thing they could do
@xwhynoted 70 years of blaming his father and one medical note from 1940 changed the whole story. splitting his work between Refuge and Combat Stress is the most honest answer he could give
@Llinkoy $5,000 in savings and she still owned 100% at the billionaire stage. then she gave every employee $10,000 and first class tickets, that's how you share a win
@kaienphase he grew a $2 million business into $500 million and then lost $350 million in 20 months. it took decades to build and less than two years to burn
@elisamacro the 60 Minutes clip and the residuals joke years later are like two different men. one says she didn't deserve it, the other turns it into stand-up
@KupresTilz16899 broke, two mortgages, eating ramen, and he still turned down cash now for royalties later. that one no ended up worth more than his whole skating career
@darkcrypto_off a £10,000 mistake he could have reported that morning turned into £827 million because he chose to wait a few hours. hiding a small loss is how every big blowup starts
an Uber driver in Lagos pitched a boat rental business from the front seat. the man in the back was an artist manager, and a million dollar idea from a driver made no sense to him.
in the clip below the founder of Boat Naija explains why he said yes anyway.
the driver lived in Lekki and kept watching people go out on boat cruises. he had carried the idea around for about four years, he says, and couldn't get anyone on board.
then one day he drove the manager and his star artist to an interview.
"for an Uber driver to be giving you a million-dollar idea, it doesn't really make sense."
the manager went home and prayed about it.
"one of my pastors told me that somebody's gonna give me a business idea that's gonna change my life."
they started Boat Naija together in 2019. the driver is still his partner today.
"it changed our life though."
would you take a business pitch from your Uber driver - or laugh it off?
@Keeperssd stablecoin issuers freezing half the stolen funds is the part people will remember. BTC and ETH can't be frozen, and that's where the real loss sits
@0xVishnya@wirex_one 8% spread over 12 months is about $6.67 a month per $1K, and only if it stays in. worth reading the terms before moving salary over
George Clooney co-founded a tequila brand and sold it for up to $1 billion. Tina Fey says rich people launching side hustles is where she has a problem.
in the clip below she tells Amy Poehler where she draws the line.
she starts with herself. once she's safe and has enough to live on, she says, money stops being exciting.
"i don't get excited about money."
Poehler asks if she means a podcast. no, Fey says, that's still work. she means the person who already has everything and launches a product anyway. Poehler offers her own example, a rosé.
"if you already have like 200 million dollars..."
Poehler says this is where they have to learn from Gen Z. younger people don't care, Fey agrees.
"they don't judge it. i judge it."
Casamigos launched in 2013. 4 years later Diageo paid $700 million up front, with $300 million more tied to sales.
