metacognition, the ability to observe and understand your own thinking, is what neuroscience considers the highest form of intelligence. it is what separates reactive people from self aware ones.
when you can step back and notice why you are thinking what you are thinking, you gain the ability to change it.
most people live inside their thoughts. the rare few learn to watch them.
The man who decoded the hidden script governing your decisions:
Carl Jung.
He discovered that until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.
Here are his 9 foundational principles for breaking free and reclaiming your life:
In 1993 he was charging $5,000 per seminar seat and selling out arenas across America. By 2000 his company Robbins Research International had generated over $400 million in revenue. By 2023 his net worth had crossed $600 million and he was charging $1 million per private consulting day. Presidents and billionaires flew him in on private jets to fix one conversation.
He built all of it on one skill.
His name is Tony Robbins. And in the early 1990s he sat down in a training room and explained exactly how he does it.
He opened with a number that most people in that room got completely backwards.
80% of being effective in front of any room is why you are there. 20% is how.
Most speakers spend 100% of their preparation on the how. The words. The slides. The structure. The order. He said that is exactly why most people are forgettable the moment they stop talking.
He said when he walks into a room he has zero internal dialogue. None. He is entirely focused outward on the people in front of him. The moment he starts talking to himself inside his head about whether it is going well — it stops going well. Every time.
He ran the most effective direct response television show in the United States at the time. Outselling every competitor by three times. Not because of better production. Because of one framework he used in every single episode.
First 40% of any presentation — get people to say me too. Not so what. Me too. You are not there to impress them. You are there to make them feel understood. Until that happens nothing else works.
Next 10% — logic and reason. Just enough to let people justify the decision they have already emotionally made. Not more. Most speakers spend 80% of their time here and wonder why nothing lands.
Next 40% — attack and confess. Say out loud every reason someone would not do what you are asking. Confess that you have been guilty of it too. The moment you name their resistance before they do you become the only person in the room they fully trust.
Last 10% — solution and ask. By this point the ask is a formality.
He said persuasion is a transference of emotion. You cannot transfer what you are not experiencing. If you are not genuinely moved by what you are saying the room will not be moved either. No technique fixes that gap.
He also said something most people in that room heard as a throwaway line and almost nobody acted on.
When two human beings meet the one who is most congruent will control the situation. Every time. Without exception.
The tape runs just over an hour. Free on YouTube since the early 1990s.
Almost nobody outside of professional speakers has watched it as a complete system.
The internet has convinced us that we’re all one morning routine away from becoming functional human beings.
Wake up at 5am. Stretch. Exercise. See the sun. Make a smoothie. Optimise your lymphatic drainage. Become enlightened before breakfast. And if you miss one step, you feel like you’ve failed at life.
Oliver Burkeman, Eugene and I talked about why maybe the goal shouldn’t be to control everything.

It’s been 4 years since I had my eyes fixed.
4 years and I have never been more thankful for a thing I did for myself in my life.
I had laser eye surgery, but not LASIK (which is what most people get)… the procedure I had is something called Photorefractive Keratectomy, or PRK.
Dr. Rob told me that once I got my eyes fixed, it would be one of my top 3 best life choices. And it really is. But you cannot understand it—not until you’ve experienced it.
I started wearing glasses when I was 7. I can’t remember a time when I could see clearly without glasses or contact lenses—not until now.
Whenever it comes up in conversation, I have been asked to explain what it’s like to see now.
The question is usually the same: is it the best when you wake up?
And my answer is always no, even 4 years later.
My answer is that I remember how thankful I am for my new vision whenever I am in the shower. Every single time. You see, before this operation, I had never been able to read what was on the shampoo bottle. Or the face wash. Or whatever. And every single time I am in the shower, I remember that. It is so bladdy clear. Even the water droplets.
Who knew that shampoo bottles and water droplets could be so breathtaking?
For years, I had been so afraid, being told I couldn't have it due to my astigmatism or the shape of my cornea, or because it was expensive, or whatever other reason.
I was so wrong.
The procedure took less than 10 seconds in each eye and was absolutely painless. The entire thing was so seamless. I’m still in awe.
4 years later and my vision is better than 20/20.
4 years later and I am still so grateful.
I wrote about the entire experience here >>> https://t.co/JGS58EDR2p
Maybe some of this info could help you get better vision.

Just a thankful one.
Okay. Love you. Bye.
It’s been said before but the second Greta started making connections between climate change and capitalism, colonialism, and imperialism the media coverage came to a screeching halt.
.@Trevornoah: “A good friend is someone who reminds you of something good inside you.”
This is beautiful - especially having witnessed, in a small way, how his group of friends celebrates each other, supports each other and endures with each other.

If it’s only “free speech” if it’s racist but it’s a “woke mind-virus” if it advances minority rights, then what you mean by “free speech” is you want the right to be racist without facing social or legal consequences

2 things can be true...
1. Andre de Ruyter failled at his job and deserves no credit
2. Senior politicians are interfering with Eskom to enrich themselves
I dont feel sorry for Andre, and I don't trust a single politician or minister in the ANC...
You don’t have to be neurotically attached to doing things at the exact same time every day but trying to get them done within a +/- 1 hour window will change everything for the better and provide resilience to your circadian system when you can’t. The body & mind love schedules.
