@m_Janelle@Boenau The DDC was standard in the CAF. When we removed it (I think late 80s) the vehicle incident rate jumped 10%. We reintroduced it and the rate fell 10%. A stat that I recall was that 85% of all vehicle incidents was due to driver error.
@m_Janelle@Boenau I’m not a math guy and I don’t doubt that Waymo is safer, but I would like to see the actual numbers such as we present in the DDC. There were approximately 2,000 driving fatalities in Canada during 2023, about the same as 2022. However up by approximately 175 from 2021.
@NoahGairn Though I suppose an argument could be made for retention for Asterix until the second JSS is commissioned to provide support on both coasts. Or to retain Asterix for training and free the JSS for deployment.
@RomanFisher__ Just wondering why one card for health and driving when there are occasions when two government IDs are required? Having a laminated drivers licence and separate Health card seems like a better idea.
@ThomasWatsonCD@MarcKieley To avoid confusion aboard ship, the commander of Naval Party 001 of the newly established Royal Canadian Marines shall be addressed as Major-lieutenant.
@CDNPolicyHawk@NoahGairn An expeditionary force could be centred on Baggotville, training and centre of excellence in Cold Lake. Policing squadrons in Winnipeg (x2 with one for Arctic rotation), Comox, Shearwater. But what about Latvia? That’s something like 8-10 squadrons. Need approx 140 fighters.
@m_Janelle@MikeTheNavyGuy1 When I joined they were not found in my regiment’s regular training areas. When I released, tick protocols were part of all safety briefings.
@CDNPolicyHawk@LegasovAnalytic Acquire a fleet of four or so expeditionary support style ships (quarters/armoury/tech support/ security dets/helicopter hanger/ light craft/fuel etc) as mobile bases and improve or build new some runways at likely anchorages seems like a better idea. The crews can be rotated.
@butchersboybob@m_Janelle@NoahGairn If new vehicle fleets for the PRes are going to meet the One Army requirements the CAF is adopting, increased tech support will be necessary regardless. I think the greatest challenge for the CAF will be the logistics to support the new plans. 2/2
@butchersboybob@m_Janelle@NoahGairn We did indeed hit up Central Valley Trucks for parts & maintenance, but we were also blessed by good support from techs. The fleet shock absorber debacle was one of the times where things went off the rails. 1/2
@m_Janelle@NoahGairn The Grizzly’s & Cougars used to be rostered at sub unit levels with PRes infantry & armoured units across the country. We shipped the vehicles to support bases every summer for trg courses and MILCONs. They were shipped back usually by October for progressive trg Oct-June.
@MikeTheNavyGuy1 I believe that we’re experiencing more of a return to the uncertainty of a Cold War like political environment and the space for the NDP is constrained at the moment.
