@kodkod87@MikeAWheeler Implication by OP is, unlike the Brooklyn podcasters they disagree with, this video is based on arguments from field experts (economists, devs, etc). But the video doesn’t feature much in the way of expert testimony or quotes other than the people I identified
@BrooklynBus The best arguments for cars are that they carry objects much easier than public transit and they provide mobility restricted people greatest flexibility. Neither requires going fast
@BrooklynBus What is the argument you need to drive faster than 15mph though? If you’re late to something that’s your responsibility; shouldn’t we ask adults to be more responsible than children?
@bri_guy_ny It’s a very “worst person you know…” meme situation. Loudest voices are not making empathetic arguments but also if we as a city/state/country/etc were even half as serious about climate change as we need to be, we’d have a 5 year plan for a car free city and that’s not a joke
@DillonLoomis What’s the evidence this behavior is more a problem in society than your own - not being patient enough to wait two minutes for them to move and then still being peeved enough to post the footage?
@theashleyray For almost every other show on the list, having more seasons is a hinderance (to the point where they had to pretend True Detectivr only had one). 30 Rock had 9 seasons and every one is better than the other shows on this list
@lionel_trolling Breaking Bad suffers immensely from LSS (Late Scorsese Syndrome) - it pretends to say this guy sucks but everything it does reveals that actually it thinks this guy Rocks
@radioshacked@Megmd514@NYC_DOT@Uber@lyft Even with the increase in those electrics (which, fwiw, I do think we should legislate) cars are still vastly more dangerous. And within NYC, we actually see an economic benefit to local businesses when car traffic is reduced - people on foot are way more likely to go in a biz
@dsantos9797@Megmd514@NYC_DOT@Uber@lyft Totally agree - let’s convert all roads to single lane for use by taxis, service vehicles and permitted ride shares and allow for members of the public to apply for car permits on an as-needed or long term basis depending on their specific circumstances
@dsantos9797@Megmd514@NYC_DOT@Uber@lyft Bicycles do a much better job of supplementing the portion of short distance trips not well covered by modes of public transit while requiring a fraction of the space, infrastructure and maintenance costs that cars do while also not adding safety and environmental concerns
@firestarternyc@urbanresidue@nothingEvrHppns I understand it’s counterintuitive, but actually it’s been pretty definitively proven in multiple studies that increasing road capacity increases traffic congestion- road feels bigger, more cars expect to take it, demand outweighs capacity

@WKCosmo You don’t need to jump through hoops for a bike, just imagine two cars: if I want to turn right from the left lane and there is a car in the right lane, even if it’s the lane markers as dashed, I still let the car in the lane I’m merging into go first. Dash doesn’t mean pass
@gracecamille_ Btw the plot of this music video is that Ed cosplays as a person of color, stirs up trouble with them, and then when it becomes daytime all the real POCs have to hide from the sun or be killed whereas he gets to transform back into normal Ed and be fine
@markwhlte@FourFourTwo Very fun! One potential addition - would be great if after you were done it told you what the optimal score you could have achieved would have been based on the options you got each dice roll (could I have gotten to 442 or was I just unlucky?)
@lionel_trolling The obvious distinction here being that NHJ was changing Someone Else’s behavior (her child’s) and not her own. But my experience is parents is are often willing to use their children as an excuse to make easy/selfish decisions so I have a lot of respect for doing the opposite
@lionel_trolling Been thinking a lot about the Jane McAlevey quote in a recent Know Your Enemy episode about vegetarianism as representing whether you have the discipline to change the world if you don’t have the discipline to change your own behavior
