Threshold for ICU admission has been decreasing. Patients on high flow on the wards (who should’ve been in ICU all along) are being admitted to ICU.
Seeing more non COVID admits as well. I’m reassured by the decreasing new CRCI admits (green line).
It takes a lot of chutzpah to segue 3 years of neglect with another 4 years of delay while private long-term care shareholders and operators continue to profit from delays in regulation.
Our other ICU, the one for Covid-negative patients, is technically a 'Post-Covid patient ICU' now. These patients have 'recovered' from severe Covid. Yet, they lie here moribund, with their lungs fibrosed, chained to ventilators.
It's time to re-define 'recovery' from Covid19.
#DosesAfterDark vaccination clinic in Peel Region. They’re using the “Hockey Hub” model. Patients stay in one place while screeners and vaccinators come to THEM.
Okay people, listen up!
I just booked my 2nd shot thanks to one of my students who sent me the link - eligible high-risk HCWs can get 2nd shots sooner!
I am so thankful to @RNAO and all the fantastic Nurses and HCWs who advocated for this. 💕💞
I am just gutted. We lost another nurse to COVID. My #Manitoba colleagues tell me Kim was a 26yo early career dedicated nurse. My heart, thoughts & prayers are with Kim’s family. RIP sweet Kim. #NurseTwitter#COVID19#IhateCOVID
So many DMs from #Nurses afraid to #speakup. An early career nurse:
“I feel like I need a break. I get called in a lot on my days off. I have the need to help out as much as I can so I go to work. I question why we’re understaffed to begin with.”

@2rn1md@birgitomo@akatelyn19@_Amy93@KarynRN4 Academic. I feel terribly fatigued, shame we don't actively advocate w, lift our clinical colleagues in #COVID! I need Nurse:person/course ratios. Imagination in leadership or minimally get out of my way. Pay me OT. Dismantle education hierarchies. Compassion for all. #speakup
