✅Fano have maintained control of most of the region, in contrast, a fully mechanized TPLF with international support and element of surprise lost control of Tigray in 3 weeks;

✅In just one year, Fano carried out an operation in the national capital of Addis Ababa which neither TPLF or OLA were able to do:

✅Fano have not received support from any foreign country, every successful insurgency movement in history has involved major assistance from multiple patrons;

✅Fano have completely adhered to IHL, a standard no other insurgency has been held to, and has fought with more restraint than the actual army which has committed widespread war crimes and crimes against humanity, &

✅the resistance has widespread popular support.

In recent tragic events unfolding in Merawi Gojjam, Amhara region of Ethiopia, the world has been alarmingly silent in response to the horrifying atrocities committed against the local ethnic Amhara population. Following a military defeat, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's forces reportedly engaged in a ruthless massacre, claiming the lives of over 200 civilians, including children. The international community's lack of response has raised concerns about the role of global institutions in acknowledging and condemning such acts of violence.

The aftermath of the military loss witnessed Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's forces resorting to brutal retaliation against civilians in Merawi Gojjam. Troops reportedly conducted house-to-house searches, targeting children and youths, and engaging in extrajudicial killings. The entire village is now mourning the loss of loved ones, with blood spattered across the ground as a grim reminder of the atrocities committed.

The scale of destruction is harrowing, with over twenty cars and two public buses full of people being burned to ashes by heavy artillery. Numerous houses were also targeted, both by heavy artillery and drones. The motive behind these attacks on civilians appears to be a vengeful response to the heavy military losses suffered by the regime forces.

Despite the widespread ethnic Amhara outrage over the brutalities, the world remains conspicuously silent. Ethiopian regime forces stormed the town early morning after facing defeat from their earlier engagement with Amhara Fanos outside the town. The government armed forces went through the town and killed all security guards of various offices and institutions, either while on their post or on their way to work. There was a door to door execution of young people for fear they would join Fano. Young men found outside were killed. There was no electricity and that made charging cellular phones difficult barring communication. 53 people are reported dead, out of which 30 were buried the same day.

GPE calls for the international community to honor their responsibility to protect humanity! The crimes committed by the Ethiopian regime has seen no condemning at a level that befits the cruelty, such silence is only giving the regime confidence to continue its genocidal #WarOnAmhara|s.

The rallying cry of "እየመጡ ነው ፣ እየመጡ ነው" (eyemetu newe eyemetu newe), meaning "they are coming," signifies the hope for a better future under the liberating Amhara Fanos, while also expressing deep-seated resentment towards the current regime.

Months into the conflict, the Ethiopian regime's decision to wage war against the Amhara Fanos has proven to be highly contentious and, according to some analysts, borderline suicidal. Historically, Amharas have been the guardians of the Ethiopian state, and their patriotic culture has fostered resistance against repression. The regime's inability to capture or eliminate key Fano leaders has left the Ethiopian military at its weakest.
