As an Australian, I’d like to apologise for our league foisting this shit upon the world. Some ideas should die a quick death - but here we are, this one made it to the WC.
So MLS will not be the first league to implement this crap, unfortunately.
@jaraparilla VAR is meant to interfere only when on field referee makes a ‘clear and obvious’ error. But, for objective calls like offsides it is applied strictly as a factual check rather than a judgment call.
The pause point is not perfect but the line has to be drawn somewhere.
@darrenobryen@dannolan Payroll Tax was never part of the deal nor was Stamp Duty on property transfers (another one that people get wrong). GST was never going to be large enough to cover 2 largest revenue raisers for the states, especially after the 'Democrats GST exclusions' were accepted.
@adorablegov@fictillius If a rocky outcrop accessible only at low tide can be described as pleasant’.
In terms of development, it’s reverting back to the original intention. It was subdivided in 1840s but the subdivision never eventuated - before industry moved in.
@RizviAbul I think Hrustic’s father and Degenek’s parents might have also come under the Humanitarian Program, from ex Yugo.
I read somewhere that Hum. Program intake from ex Yugo was one of our most successful. We took in about 40k from there. Can’t go wrong with Humanitarian intake.

This claim needs to die! It’s just wrong.
“15.7 per cent of Australia’s workforce was in public jobs, below the OECD average of 18.4 per cent, about 85 public sector employees per 1000 people.”
@TatticaPassata The last WC Turkey played in, 2002, they finished 3rd. They’ve been regulars in Euros and had a good run in 2008 (Semis) and last one in 2024 (QF). So, generally, if they make a tournament they are a definition of a ‘dark horse’. They have an ability to go on a good run.
@AvidCommentator Hence my note that it’s a stretch. It seems to indicate that they are not taking responsibility for uptick in FY 22-23 numbers. Leading to tribalist discourse.
I have to plead ignorance on the FY vs quarterly NOM numbers, other than the quarterly tend to be a broad estimate?
