Elevating voices of cancer patients & survivors drives impact. Proud to lead @ACSCAN work that touched 25 million+ lives in 2025 to strengthen prevention incl. tobacco control, defend access to care & increase funding for research & prevention programs. https://t.co/gH85GiEigA
Increasing tobacco taxes is one of the most effective ways to reduce tobacco use, especially among kids.
Currently, in UT, smoking is attributed to more than 15% of cancer deaths, and $630 mil in annual health care costs including more than $135 mil in Medicaid costs. #utleg
What a great #UTCancerActionDay!
Huge thanks to all of the members of the #utleg who joined us for our "Not-So-Sweet 16" festivities, highlighting the 16 years since UT last increased the cigarette tax. #YesOnHB337 will finally address this issue, saving lives and state $$$
@BYUPublicHealth representing constituents at the Utah State Capitol to ask legislators to support HB 337, an increase in the tobacco tax. This strategy is one of the most effective way to prevent kids from starting and help adults quit. #UTCancerActionDay
The House just voted YES on the spending bill!
Grateful to lawmakers for advancing a powerful package that supports #CancerResearch and prevention through funding for @NIH, @theNCI + more, and #EarlyDetection through the #MCEDAct.
The bill now goes to the Senate for a vote.
Join volunteers, activists, survivors and caregivers at the state capitol to tell lawmakers:
It’s time to get serious about fighting Big Tobacco and investing in cancer prevention.

Every breakthrough in cancer treatment and prevention has started with federal funding. We can't jeopardize progress and undermine decades of momentum.
Today, advocates from ACS CAN, @OVACInfo and more are urging Senators to pass a full-year spending bill to #ProtectCancerCures.
Enhanced health care tax credits lower the cost of health insurance for 20 million+ Americans, but they expire at the end of the year. If Congress doesn’t act, more than 4 million people—including cancer patients—will lose health coverage and costs will skyrocket. #HealthNotHikes
Cancer patients, survivors and advocates are marking the American Cancer Society's 49th annual Great American Smokeout. Make a plan to quit today! https://t.co/TUIyHJYZY9
The #MCEDAct hit 400 cosponsors today!
As the most-supported bill in Congress, there's overwhelming bipartisan support to get this important legislation over the finish line. 💪
If passed, it could help innovative cancer #EarlyDetection tests reach more people who need them.
We had a beautiful #LightsOfHope display at the SLC Hope Lodge this weekend.
It was a moving opportunity to honor loved ones touched by cancer.
Sending huge thanks to our event sponsors for helping to make it happen.
When we find out @RepBlakeMoore is co-sponsoring #mced, and we got a solid yes to sponsoring legislation we want passed this year, we have to leave a note on the representative’s whiteboard. #CancerLobbyDay
Did @ACSCANUtah just happen to score an impromptu meeting with @RepMaloyUtah? Yes, indeed we did! Thank you for meeting with us to talk about cancer’s impact on Utahns. #CancerLobbyDay
