Today is Pakistan Resolution Day, the day to celebrate the republic, the day to for renewing the resolve to build the nation and strengthen the state. Grateful that the state will acknowledge my father’s contribution of 62 years of public service which includes his role in making the 1973 Constitution, his consistent struggles for democracy and his reform based public service as he will receive #NishaniImtiaz from PresidentAsifAliZardari. The last survivor of the Constitution committee, longest serving parliamentarian, three time chief minister, are all accolades bestowed to him by the party and its leadership he stood with through rough waters, but they are also entrusted to him by the people of our constituency #Khairpur, which continued to vote and support him but above all they are the result of his unending resolve to serve the people of our beautiful country. #PakistanZindabad #PakistanResolutionDay #NishaniImtiaz #ForeverQaim #23rdMarch

ShaheedBhutto did not get a fair trial, the #SupremeCourt acknowledges past mistakes. Shaheed Bhutto was hanged and as a result the country was engulfed by authoritarianism from which it has still not fully recovered. It deprived the country of a great leader and the country fell from one crisis to another. Shaheed Bhutto hanging was not only a personal tragedy for the family, it was disastrous for the country as a whole. Details of judgment have yet to be released to the public but as a worker of #PakistanPeoplesParty I feel the judgement fell short of what the history and norms of justice demand. I would have liked to hear a stronger judgment with quashing of the sentence and declaring pardon for Shaheed Bhutto as an obvious consequence of unfair trail. This would have been a better redemptive act for the judiciary. And would have served our troubled history better.
