It's easy to doubt and questions those you disagree with. But what is more important in, and often more difficult, is to question yourself
Question everything, but especially question the things that reaffirm your existing beliefs
@Azreal_Lane@W0ggyFr0ggy@KyleBroflov5k1@ExistentialEnso@KevinButterhof When one happens well, you can certainly tell when the blood and air flow is completely restricted
When it's not being done as well, you can often still breathe, but not as well. If you panic when that happens, it becomes worse
@Azreal_Lane@W0ggyFr0ggy@KyleBroflov5k1@ExistentialEnso@KevinButterhof To me, breathing being binary means you either can breathe perfectly fine, or not at all, with no in between
I don't know your experiences, but I know from mine, that isn't how it works
Have you ever taken a martial art that trains chokes?
@lesbianseason@_tristanbongo I'd say there is another major difference you're missing. The criticism behind your complaint isn't valid, and only promotes more division between people
Their criticism calls you out for that fact, which is more justified because it tries to fight that harmful division
@MeghanEMurphy@JongBogong@Sensha563@jess_ann_pin It is a misconception, because you're taking your own skewed personal experiences to determine what others are like in general
Also, a woman chasing a man doesn't mean she will "throw herself at any man whk will take her". She could just be chasing that one man she loves
@jmcarnes12 I think the way you're interpretting the word "reasonable" is different than how they are using it
While it would be ideal, it'll never reach zero. In this case, I think "reasonable" means it's so low that it would be unfeasible to lower it by much more
@dumbdragon5@RealFrostings You believe it will mess with conservation efforts, using Jaws as an example
Can you show that exactly what effect Jaws had? Additionally, what effort have you made to challenge the idea that the movie will have these negative effects?
@CloseCall_p Based on your own behavior, all you want is to block people or have them block you so you can avoid this criticism. Because it's easier than being a good person
You care about yourself to the detriment of others. So long as that is the case, you deserve to be called out
@CloseCall_p Moreover, the accusation you did make distracts from any harm actual victims face in this topic
The way you went about it shows you weren't caring about if anyone was harmed, but whether or not you could portray a person who criticized you in a negative light
@gemoglobinchik@AstraXAstra If an attack is based on incorrect information, it's unjustified, regardless of who/what it attacks, because the same logic used will often get re-used against those who are not as powerful
Therefore, defending against those attacks is always justified
@Rino_talks@RealPostFolder It sounds like you believe his actions aren't healthy from a mental/emotional standpoint
So my question is, have you actually seriously considered that you're wrong? Either because your own understanding of how people work is wrong, or you may not have complete information?
@spiiralling@httpnicdotcom@junglejim_69420@LunnyMoonMoon Yes, your actions can influence anyone and everyone you interact with
But, you also cannot reasonably predict and account for how others may be influenced all the time
Not only will you have blind spots, but some people will react in unreasonable ways, which isn't your fault
@Lingonius@languishedhair@lemonssplice I don't believe something is true only if substantiated by academic studies. I believe that certain statements are more strongly supported by good studies than personal experinces
Personal experinces do matter, however I see it as a different tool for different circumstances
@Lingonius@lemonssplice I do think that study is good evidence in favor of black people holding more homophobic views than white people
I'll look more at it later, but interestingly black people also are more likely to support laws against anti-gay discrimination
@Lingonius@lemonssplice Though given the way the screenshot was a sort of reply to the one being quote retweeted, I would have less issue if it is meant to be less of a definite statement, and more of an alternate explanation that hasn't been ruled out
@Lingonius@lemonssplice Whether white people view Arabs or Muslims as the "most homophobic" or not doesn't change whether they view black people as "more homophobic" than white people or not
Now you don't think white people see black people that way, but to myself I think it's not so easily known
@Lingonius@lemonssplice Alternatively, I might also interpet it as being that white people are more likely to view black people in that way, once again, regardless of why the viewpoint came to exist in the first place
I believe the term for this is outgroup homogeneity
@Lingonius@lemonssplice To one of your questions, I do not think OP was claiming that white people are the cause of black people being seen as more sexual or masculine on a wider scale, but that they are more likely to be seen as homophobic due to that flawed perception
