@MattthewPace @MAPatriot1630@Unveiled_ChinaX Sure, but failure to utilize conventional forces goes on and on, as national security threats metastasize.
When institutions are sufficiently hollowed out, the opportunity for resistance could be lost entirely.
The greatest evils of industrialization, from a traditional worldview, are its placing of bourgeois power at the top of the stack. This has the potential to destroy any traditional society, even without immigration or foreign arrivals.
This kind of quasi-fascistic worldview is seductive to some, and uses a few sprinkles of truth. But, it is fundamentally wrongheaded in its biological emphasis.
Innovation was and is a potential disaster, no question, but class incoherence and churn just as much of a problem.
@sberg0@dylanmatt@dwallacewells I would largely tend to agree, but I do wonder how many rural migrants disappeared or were murdered later after moving to the city. The rural world provided some insulation from a certain type of urban killer, and less insulation from racist rural whites.
@WollastonWntr63@JoshEakle I think we should be clear, some of this isn’t a problem, but it probably is a problem in regards to may loons and grifters.
A post liberal model that strongly emphasized legal rights avoids a lot of the problems of mob rule; however, I don’t trust Vance on such matters.
@sacredtree9@Beefeater_Fella I hope that the FBI’s flaws are well known enough that not too much sensitive information is being leaked to Patel. It is unfortunate however that the FBI is apparently still the main domestic counterintelligence organization; not sure how we move on from that.
@DeetosBandito@Captain_Fubar Well, also, there has been such an obsession with covert ops that quiet assassinations would be a big part of the affair, maybe even quiet draining where both sides begin to distrust their civilian doctors (something that is already a thing).
Very strange to be having a fierce debate about who gets hired in the humanities when as far as I can tell no one is being hired in the humanities and the humanities are being shut down permanently
@turnkey_copper@cszabla I feel like a lot of these people fail to notice the real on the ground problems regarding politics; foreign interference and domestic criminal activity don’t magically end just because the States separate.
@AndySweetTweets@zagrebbi@LinkofSunshine There are also weird things that affected both white and black people also, like the whole Stimoceiver conversation from Delgado, and particularly Vernon Mark and Frank Ervin. That whole conversation on neurology and mental health was very provocative although it feels forgotten.
If I were a malign foreign actor dead set on crippling America’s historic advantage in science and technology (and resultant economic advantage), I genuinely don’t know what I’d do differently than this administration
@ThatchEffendi@Bob_Somebody021 Debatable on Han, but the High Qing got pretty good. However, they still lacked widespread salaried positions, so county magistrate(county clerk/justice of the peace) was basically a high prestige high qualification gentleman job in most places.
Getting to the next stage is hard.
@SkylarKaede@SyntheticAnima@GeorgeOlduvai Yes. Also, the practice of “moving out” existed, but rare. Families valued an eldest son or daughter quite strongly; when people moved out it was under specific circumstances, usually at quite a young age with an indenture where they learned a new trade or manual labor job.
@baylissbaghdad@EC2man We should avoid being too rosy about America however, the FBI might be worse because they are no longer a serious crime fighting organization.
Natsec also, as far as they claim, do not operate domestically, leaving most real organized crime action to local police or forgn intel.
@WIP_Abandoned@NBruhwhat@Here4Many2@durje666 I do not have children, but I know that mentality is widespread among some people. I don’t know how common it actually is among CPS, but it would not surprise me if it is.
@Andersdersders@posta_octavian This is a real issue, and it is, according to some theories, a dominant ideological approach across all American politics and some Federal employees.
This will weaken everything, including socialism.
@JJvcdol6304@causeiexist@avrilbradley23 I would say the situation is a strong parallel: Japanese domestic politics is now utterly destroyed with few sincere actors allowed, even in LDP, organized crime and ex-intel types are dominant, an exact parallel to China’s domination by the MSS.
