Our research not only underscores the coordinated enhancements of sleep spindles and SOs as a mechanism behind memory processing during sleep as shown by other cueing modalities, but also showcases the potential of olfactory cueing as a method to study and influence this process.

Interestingly, spindles that coupled with SOs, especially during SO up states, were more numerous. This indicates a coordination between sleep spindles and SOs, pinpointing a key mechanism for cue-induced memory consolidation.
