These are two young, talented, intelligent women who got elected against all odds, against millions of dollars. Perhaps there is something we can learn from them.

Today the Supreme Court authorized this administration to end TPS for 350,000 Haitians and 6,000 Syrians, imperiling the lives of all 1.3 million holders of this status.

In the stroke of a pen, people who have raised their children in our communities, who work and go to school here, find themselves facing potential deportation to countries they have fled; that are so dangerous that the US State Department deems them “no travel” zones for Americans.

To the Haitians, Syrians, and other TPS holders in NY-13 and beyond: I stand with you and will fight for your right to stay in the homes you have built in our communities.

The Senate must act now to pass the bill protecting Haitian TPS that’s already passed in the House, and Congress must create a residency pathway for TPS holders.

This administration, motivated by blatant racism, is using every tool at its disposal to turn people into fodder for its for-profit deportation system.
