Later this week, we’re starting to install #RapidTO priority bus lanes on Dufferin St, from Springhurst Ave to Bloor St W. to make transit more reliable and a more convenient choice.
Please avoid parking your car within the installation area. Cars may be friendly-towed (i.e. relocated) to a nearby street if they're blocking crews at work.

Introducing Alto: Canada’s largest infrastructure project ever — connecting nearly 20 million Canadians between Quebec City and Toronto with 300km/hour high-speed rail.
I HAVE THE MOST AMAZING COMMENTS RIGHT NOW in my feed about congestion pricing
- One guy says his "wife's family is plumbers in Yonkers" and, because of congestion pricing, they won't be able to work in Manhattan
- Another guy who describes himself as "6’1 230 built like a brick shithouse" challenged me to wear my "nicest watch" and come on the subway with him because it's so scary. He has a "day date two tone." I don't own a watch and I'm not 230, but I'm not scared to ride the subway
- Another guy whining about congestion pricing last drove into Manhattan ONE MONTH AGO
- Another doesn't believe I ride the subway (lmao)
- Another said congestion pricing is too expensive since he drives his ill girlfriend into the city 3x/week, but when I asked what exemption he will take, he said it takes too long and pivoted to complaining about illegal immigration
- Many are driverrs do not believe they are subsidized by the government (they are)
- MULTIPLE people declared that congestion pricing disproportionately affects poor people (it doesn't) but could never identify any specific poor people who drive and park in Manhattan every day (because that rarely happens)
Overall, I love it
The Transportation Tomorrow Survey from 2022 that @PrabSarkaria and @fordnation were hiding has been released. It shows cycling commute mode share is up 300% in Old Toronto since 2001. Now sitting at 11.3% in Old Toronto wards (4, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14), 10x bigger than "1.2%"!
Ever see a bus lane and thought it looked empty? Think again! Each bus lane can move more people per minute faster than a typical lane for cars.

Dr. Ally Louks's PhD thesis is set to be one of the most influential theses of 21st century. Puts forward an original argument with remarkable clarity.
Already has 85M+ views on X/Twitter.
Most people criticizing her don't understand her argument at all.
I have a PhD in literary studies, and in this thread, we'll do a close reading of her abstract to understand her argument in simple English.
@BikeShareTO In light of Bill 212, it's important to note the usage of the network along Bloor-Danforth and Yonge Street. 50% of all 7 million trips occurred along these 2 corridors.
‘Poorly planned bike lanes’: Staff reports, consultation, parking impact evaluation, traffic studies, Moneris data economic impact study, pilot periods, before/after counts, collision/safety data…
Bill 212: anecdotes, a well-connected bar owner, and an hour of committee time.
An admission of the significant financial and safety costs. The city regularly looks at alternative routes and puts lanes on side streets. Shaw (instead of Ossington), Palmerston (Bathurst), Brunswick (Spadina). Yonge, University and Bloor don't have equivalent options.
