According to Palestinian Health Ministry and Medical Relief Directorate this month:

Official numbers - October 2026:

- 21,000+ patients currently require medical evacuation outside Gaza
- Includes 5,800+ children (other counts: 5,342 to 6,052 children)
- 4,800 cancer patients (other count: 2,800 oncology)
- 1,800 elderly
- 194 life-threatening cases needing immediate evacuation
- 2,000 emergency cases

- 2,027 patients have died while waiting for medical evacuation / treatment since Rafah closure.

Why Palestinians need to travel:
Gaza had 574 health centers before war, now only 227 functioning with limited resources. 25 of 38 hospitals out of service, remaining 13 partially operating. Needs include neurosurgery, heart/vascular surgery, cancer treatment, kidney care, orthopedics, ophthalmology, pediatrics.

All evacuations require multi-stage Israeli security clearance.
