Remarks by H.E. M Osman Doubad Sougouleh, Ambassador of the Republic of Djibouti to the Federal Republic of Somalia, on the Occasion of Somalia's 66th Independence Anniversary, 1 July .
01.Jul.1960kii waxaa la dhisay dal, dawlad iyo qaran Soomaali oo idil u taagan. Waxaa loo bixiyay Jamhuuriyadda Soomaaliyeed. Waa dawlad qarannimadeeda iyo isirnimadeedu is ku lifaaqan yihiin. Isbeddello badan ayaa soo dhacay ilaa maantana muwaaddinka Jamhuuriyaddu waa qof walba oo Soomaali ah, meel uu ku dhashaba.
In dadaal la gu bixiyo sidii dawladdaas loo burburin lahaa oo haybo kale oo cusub loo abuuri lahaa waxaa ka fudud in iyada khaladkeeda la saxo.
"Cod midaysan iyo dawlad baan caashaq ku ahaaye
Taariikhdu way cawlan tahay waa se la caddayn!"

Today we celebrate the courage, unity, and sacrifice of our people. At every difficult moment, Somalis have shown strength and refused to give up.
I believe one day our good people will succeed, and Somalia will rise with peace, dignity, and hope.

Congratulations to HE Mohamed Yahya of Somalia for his appointment as the Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
Because of his roots from this Region, with its complex humanitarian challenges, and because of his vast experience, HE Yahya’s appointment by United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, is a wise and timely one. We look forward to working with you in the discharge of your important duties.

On June 23, 2026, I participated in the High-Level Panel on EAC Digital for Development Forum 2026, in Arusha, Tanzania. I shared with the participants the experience of Somalia in moving from a collapsed state to a revived "cashless" community with easy transactions. The historical trajectory of Somalis relying on Hawala (money wiring), a system that started as an "informal' sector but morphed into a dynamic infrastructure, putting Somalia as a major player in this new e-economy. Happy to have been there.
The BRA Monitoring & Evaluation Policy Validation Workshop concluded today in Mogadishu, building on community input and stakeholder engagement.
Special thanks to @FCASomalia for their continued support.
