It's World #CervicalCancer Elimination Day
Cervical cancer could be the first cancer EVER in the world to be eliminated, if:
9️⃣0️⃣% of girls are vaccinated
7️⃣0️⃣% of women are screened
9️⃣0️⃣% of women with cervical cancer receive treatment

Amazing! 1,000 people have enrolled in the @23andMe Lung Cancer Genetics Study.
Why am I so excited about this Study?
For the first time, the entire lung cancer community is rallying behind a single, comprehensive research effort. Individually, we can make a difference, but together, we can DO more, BE more, and IMPACT more!
Here is the link to the study if you are interested: https://t.co/0FOY6cchYZ. Please share if you know someone who may be interested.

CanNOT overstate the life changing role of palliative care - but it continues to be underutilized.
Thank you @lpetrillz for
dispelling the myths and emphasizing the need of early intervention!
#WCLC24
When you see advocates wearing #makecancerlessshitty t-shirts and pins around #WCLC24, THIS is why ⬇️ We talk a lot about cutting-edge treatment and potential cures, but we don't talk enough about HELPING PEOPLE LIVE BETTER!
We see and hear the research and clinical data & about case studies, but what about IMPACT - what does it all mean in the context of a person's life? THAT is the information that is important and meaningful to patients/families, and oncology professionals when discussing treatment options.
@CancerSuckLess #LCSM
Communication isn’t something doctors learn in school, and their degree doesn't depend on it, BUT…..
It is at the heart of patient-centered care!
Just as research and treatments advance, the way we talk about it needs to as well. Using patient friendly language to communicate science empowers patients & families to participate in SDM.
Thank you @JNJInnovMed for recognizing and addressing the communication gap!

“I have seen men survive diseases that women do not because of the care that women caregivers provide to their male partner when they are sick-I have only seen that happen once or twice for a female patient being taken care of by a man when she is sick.”
My jaw is on the floor.
My 38 year old brother in law (with 2 kids under 10) is sitting in a great hospital @OchsnerHealth but is requiring transfer to @UCSDHealth for pulmonary artery endarterectomy. @BCBS New Mexico is road blocking (taking forever to approve) the transfer to a higher level of care despite one of the best hospitals in state of Louisiana saying he needs to go. @UCSDHealth has been excellent and has a bed and can hopefully save his life. Come on @BCBSAssociation PLEASE MOVE FASTER or there won’t be a patient to transfer.
@acmoorephd@LAGurwitch@IASLC A week to go before the VOICE Course for Cancer Patient Advocates starts at Barts Cancer Institute, advocates learning the science of research and working with the researchers in the labs.

This! When researchers work w/patient advocates early in their career & listen to what's impt to pts/families!
We often ask/require pt advocate inclusion, but there's no guidance. How do we create more opportunities for these important interactions? @ASCO@AACR@IASLC@ASCOTECAG
As we anxiously await data to read out at #ASCO24, please remember, People Come First!
@MaryBoulanger4 will present her work that highlights prognostic communication challenges & patients' unmet psychosocial needs - both JUST AS IMPORTANT as OS & HR's.
