@AlexTentMakers Very true. Often even conservative bishops will cover for liberals. They’re all in the clerical club.
Opus Dei Archbishop Gomez: “We are blessed to have Cardinal Mahony represent our Archdiocese in Rome for the funeral of our Holy Father and the election of our new Pope.”
@LeahLibresco The problem is that Gomez sued to overturn the civil window which allowed victims to receive compensation for their abuse. Gomez is hardly an improvement over Mahony. Even today he issues statements saying how great it is Mahony is representing Los Angeles.
@SaraPerla8@PillarCatholic Gomez sued to overturn the civil window for abuse claims. His words are meaningless because he fought against compensation for victims.
@beeaess I am very sorry you have had to endure retaliation. As someone from Knoxville, although we have never met, I admire your courage and decency very much. If there were more priests like you in leadership, the church would be in a much better place.
@MLJHaynes@CarloMVigano Vigano never denounced anybody until after he retired. He could have spoken publicly in 2011-2016, when he was the nuncio. But if he had done that, he may have faced consequences like losing his position. Instead he kept his mouth shut to climb the clerical ladder.
@MLJHaynes@NCRonline@CarloMVigano Vigano knew all about the restrictions (whatever they were) on McCarrick but never enforced them and said not one word until after McCarrick had already been exposed in 2018. @CarloMVigano is no whistleblower.

@FatherAltman@mfjlewis@caleferink@praytherosary “The bishop of Lacrosse, Bishop William Callahan has confirmed that Father Altman does not currently enjoy good standing with the Diocese of Lacrosse and has been restricted in his ministry.”
Tell the truth @FatherAltman.
@JGrondelski @PillarCatholic What about John Paul’s responsibility in all this? More than anyone else, he is responsible for McCarrick’s rise. He ignored O’Connor’s warning. Just like he ignored the warnings about Maciel. JPII knew all about this in 1985 but did nothing.

@mabrumley@mboorstein Mark, @IgnatiusPress publishes the prison journals of a confirmed liar and cover-up master, George Pell. I wouldn’t lecture others if I were you.
https://t.co/p2qTWsLp1n
@WalkingHymnal@mfjlewis Would it bother you to learn that Pell is a confirmed liar? It also wouldn’t be a good look to canonize someone after a government body has paid out claims against the man.
https://t.co/RKkEQkjYg7
@LMnewest2323@mfjlewis Exactly. For anyone who thinks Pell was an effective pastoral leader, please watch his 60 Minutes interview. A very cold personality with a pronounced lack of caring and concern for victims. Also he is a confirmed liar.

@BishopBarron@RepRileyMoore Was it okay for you @BishopBarron when the President referred to a Senator as Pocahontas? How about when he mocked Lesotho?
Was all that keeping with the liturgy of democracy and decorum?
@carleolson Carl, can you explain why your company’s founder Fessio covered up the abuse of McGuire? And why does @IgnatiusPress publish the journals of Cardinal Pell who also covered up sex abuse and who literally walked alongside an abusive priest as he went to court?
@BishopBarron Can you imagine if @BishopBarron advocated for the poor who will suffer throughout the world [because of Trump] as passionately as he railed against feminism in "Star Wars"?

@mfjlewis I’m no fan of Barron but no way he pulls a Vigano. Barron is way too much of a careerist for that. He’s desperate to become the next Cardinal Archbishop of Chicago.
@BackwardsFeet What about JD Vance? Also, could someone please read this article and tell me why anything JD Vance says here is different from what Biden said?

@NCRonline Follow the money!
The reason @BishopBarron never criticizes Trump is that the vast majority of his funders/supporters are Trump voters.
He doesn’t want to kill the golden goose.
@NCRonline This is a great essay. I have long maintained that @BishopBarron missed his true calling as a conservative political commentator. Also, he has always seemed to me a bit of a know-it-all, constantly trying to impress upon others how smart and learned he is.
