@LeahLibresco The problem is that Gomez sued to overturn the civil window which allowed victims to receive compensation for their abuse. Gomez is hardly an improvement over Mahony. Even today he issues statements saying how great it is Mahony is representing Los Angeles.

@MLJHaynes @CarloMVigano Vigano never denounced anybody until after he retired. He could have spoken publicly in 2011-2016, when he was the nuncio. But if he had done that, he may have faced consequences like losing his position. Instead he kept his mouth shut to climb the clerical ladder.

@NCRonline This is a great essay. I have long maintained that @BishopBarron missed his true calling as a conservative political commentator. Also, he has always seemed to me a bit of a know-it-all, constantly trying to impress upon others how smart and learned he is.
