A video of a commuter arguing with a traffic police officer at Bengaluru’s Hebbal Bridge has gone viral, after traffic was stopped for a VIP/political convoy on August 9.

According to the commuter, vehicles were held for more than 30 minutes as the convoy passed. During the wait, he also heard a siren, which he said could have been an ambulance.

Frustrated by the prolonged stoppage, the commuter raised his voice at the officer managing traffic.

He later said his concern was not about the officer personally, but about how VIP movements are managed, particularly when commuters could be dealing with medical emergencies, rushing to the airport or facing other urgent situations.

The incident has once again raised questions about the impact of VIP movements on Bengaluru’s already strained traffic.

@volklub Rather than going fully wireless, a better solution would be for cars to have a rear port that's internally connected to the front. It would let you connect both dashcams without routing wires all over the cabin or removing the rubber beading.

“In a recent interview, Shri @nitin_gadkari ji said that if you want petrol without ethanol, it’s available you can fill ₹168-per-litre premium petrol.

Today, I got my tank filled with that fuel. The bill? ₹7,800 for one tank.

On a regular basis, I use E20, which costs me around ₹4,500–₹4,800 for a full tank. Even that is a significant expense. I drive nearly 2,000 kilometres every month, and fuel is already one of my biggest monthly costs.

Now imagine asking an average middle-class family to spend nearly ₹8,000 every time they fill their tank.

Is that really a choice?

A choice exists only when the alternatives are reasonably accessible. If one option is priced so high that most people simply cannot afford it, then for the vast majority of citizens, there is effectively no choice at all.

This isn’t about opposing ethanol. It’s about asking a simple question:

Should affordability determine whether a citizen has access to conventional petrol?

Many middle-class families are already managing rising household expenses, education costs, healthcare bills, and EMIs. Expecting them to absorb such a steep increase in fuel costs feels disconnected from the financial reality millions of Indians face.

As citizens, we deserve policies that balance national objectives with consumer rights, affordability, and genuine freedom of choice.

That is the conversation we should be having.”

Another Dark Side of Ethanol!! ⛽

There are multiple reports of silencers rusting in relatively new vehicles.

At first, I thought it was happening only to a few vehicles.

Until I became a victim myself.

Both my Activa and my car are just 1 year and 8 months old, and look at the condition of the mufflers ,they're completely gone!

They now sound like V8 engines. Cool, right?

But I'm genuinely concerned about what will happen once these vehicles go out of warranty.

Even though both vehicles are E20-compliant, their silencers have rusted through.

A two-wheeler spare parts dealer told me that he has sold more silencers in the last one year than he did in the previous 20 years.

This time, my car's silencer was replaced under warranty, but the Honda dealership is refusing to replace the one on my Activa.

So who is responsible for this?

Who will pay for these replacements once the vehicles are out of warranty?

If ethanol blending is contributing to this problem, then this policy needs to be reconsidered. Otherwise, many people may feel they have no option but to shift towards EVs.
