Today marks a significant milestone for @AfricaCDC. We are celebrating our 7th anniversary under the theme “A journey of Commitment and Action to safeguard Africa’s health”.
This anniversary is an opportunity for us to celebrate all the stakeholders who support @AfricaCDC in the achievement of its #Mission and to reiterate @AfricaCDC commitment to support Public Health initiatives of @_AfricanUnion Member States through the #NewPublicHealthOrder for #Africa and to show appreciation to the entire @AfricaCDC’s Staff whose dedication is invaluable.
Thanks for being a part of this journey!

Kudos to #Rwanda for inaugurating state of the art #BioNTech facility! A monumental step towards Africa's “second independence” through strengthening local medical product manufacturing for self reliance.

Nigeria through the NCDC is set to pilot the PRDS Project with the support of the US-CDC.
The PRDS team is working hard to ensure a successful implementation of the this innovation as Nigeria is one of the first countries globally to pilot the PRDS project.
PRDS is a cost-effective way to monitor multiple respiratory diseases over time using a One Health approach
This project is a critical step towards the rapid detection of emerging respiratory diseases, their origin, pathogenic cause, mode of acquisition, & transmission dynamics
Surveillance and response to epidemic-prone respiratory diseases have traditionally been conducted through vertical surveillance systems & structures
These parallel systems result in the duplication of resources and administrative processes
Yesterday our Pan Respiratory Disease Surveillance (PRDS) Project team held a landscape assessment pre-validation meeting to review the report of existing respiratory surveillance systems in Nigeria
PRDS aims to strengthen respiratory disease surveillance using global guidelines
It feels good to be one of the @NigeriaFELTP residents in @NCDCgov taking part in this all important survey. Indeed, the data will facilitate antimicrobial surveillance and stewardship in Nigeria. Kudos @NCDCgov@WHO
Last week, with support from @WHONigeria, we commenced the National Antibiotic Use Point Prevalence Survey in 3 out of 6 target states - Bauchi, Bayelsa & Anambra.
This survey aims to estimate the prevalence of antibiotic use in #Nigeria in order to promote its rational use.
