Je suis étonnée de voir autant de jeunes djiboutiens qui préfèrent rester en France pour travailler à la fin de leurs études. Ce qui leur plaît c’est la perspective d’un marché de travail où l'évaluation repose sur des critères objectifs (compétences, diplômes, performances) plutôt que sur les relations familiales, et qui offre une liberté professionnelle inestimable.
Ils ne doivent leurs postes qu’à leurs compétences, il n’y a pas eu de parents mobilisés. Ils sont épanouis, leurs parcours académiques a été valorisé, ils ont construit une vie agréable, les voyages ne sont pas chers, ils peuvent s’offrir des petites vacances dans les pays voisins.
Ils ont un boulot qui leur plaît, continuent à apprendre, sont évalués et évoluent dans leurs carrières, ils ont des bons salaires, des avantages, des loisirs, en tout cas ce sont leurs arguments.

Tout n’est pas rose, le racisme et même l’islamophobie ne sont pas absents de leur quotidien, les barrières sont là. Pourtant cette tendance ne relève pas seulement d’une opportunité économique mais répond à une quête de justice professionnelle.
L’éloignement familial peut peser, mais même pour les parents voir leurs enfants heureux et respectés pour leur travail balaie les réticences d’autrefois. Ils ne sont pas tous contre un retour au pays, Certains se disent qu’après un certain nombre d’années d’expérience ils céderont sûrement à l’appel de la terre natale, mais ils ne reviendront pas les mains vides.
