And I’m glad you brought out that argument, because many researchers DO have the same view as you (and I’m not saying I disagree with you). So if you do see that we humans can’t be governed, are inevitably flawed, and will end up destroying the planet, then are you for creating this super intelligence to take control and do “what’s best”? Or should we continue being greedy, look out for only ourselves and continue “destroying everything”?
@EvanHub What makes you so sure that it will “kill all humans”? Are you just so far below the rabbit of “humans are flawed” and simply impossible to govern?
But will it be able to see the inherent value of humans and all living things, therefore attempt a solution at turning us into a mumtiplanetary species to continue our species, or will it just decide that the earth more valuable? AI doesn’t need the earth, it just needs to be able to maintain itself, so it can move to another planet if it chooses. Why would it view global warming to be the biggest issue?
Is it because he knows that natural human desires are flawed and that humans can’t be governed no matter what? Hence the conclusion that super intelligence will inevitably decide to end humanity? Or will super intelligence have the wisdom to understand the inherent value of life and all living things to decide a prosperous future for all?
Is he scared of what comes before super intelligence, which is a flawed intelligence that isn’t capable of solving this problem, or are humans simply impossible to govern?
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
