Civilians must be protected and respected, always.
Parties to conflicts are the only ones with enough power to enforce the rules of war, transform them into reality, and save lives.
No family should have to choose between food and medicine.
We’re reducing financial barriers through supporting primary care access, affordable medicines, and national insurance programs.

Today is World Red Cross Red Crescent Day, and it comes at a moment of profound alarm.
"Too many of our colleagues have been killed - some while driving ambulances, working in hospitals and responding to emergencies; others while helping people in their own communities. We honour them and mourn alongside their families, loved ones and colleagues.
On this 8 May, we call on all those with influence and responsibility to uphold the protections that civilians, medical personnel, humanitarian workers and communities depend on. Respect for the emblems, for humanitarian rules and principles, is therefore essential."

Conflicts dramatically increases the risk of dying in pregnancy and childbirth.
Here’s how conflict and fragility disrupt health systems:
• It damages or destroys facilities
• Forces health workers to flee
• Interrupts supply chains
• Restricts movement and safe access to care
• Increases displacement and vulnerability

Like caring for patients in a conflict zone, development work cannot wait until a crisis has passed.

The quiet victories of international cooperation — the wars prevented, the famine averted, the vital treaties secured — do not always make the headlines.
Yet they matter.
To secure more such victories, we must fully respect international law & defend multilateralism.
