2. Motion Smoothing (The Soap Opera Effect)

What it does:
Hollywood movies are shot at 24 frames per second. Your TV tries to make them look smoother by using its graphics processor to invent totally fake, artificial frames and shoving them between the real ones to force the video up to 60 frames per second.

Why it kills performance:
Frame interpolation is an incredibly heavy math problem. Your TV is attempting to predict the trajectory of moving objects and render millions of new pixels in a fraction of a millisecond. If you hit the home button while a movie is playing, the menu will lag terribly because the TV chip is absolutely maxed out trying to draw fake frames in the background.

How to kill it:
Samsung: Picture → Expert Settings → Auto Motion Plus → Off
LG: Picture → Picture Mode Settings → TruMotion → Off
Sony: Picture → Motion → Motionflow → Off

🇺🇸/IRAN: Americans beating their chests over sinking a single Iranian warship returning from joint drills with India are missing the point.

Iran has warships. They are useful for specific tasks, valuable, and losing them costs Iran.

But Iran's strategy for defending itself against a US war of aggression did not include these ships.

It depends on 1000s of small boats with anti-ship missiles and other capabilities to create a naval version of its "mosaic" defense strategy.

Instead of consolidating Iran's naval capabilities into a handful of large expensive ships easy to track and sink, it has distributed these capabilities across many more, harder to find and target, easier to replace boats.

It remains to be seen how effective Iran's strategy is - but sinking Iranian warships at dock or in non-combat transit is symbolic, not symptomatic.
